The space
This is a self-catering, 1 bedroomed (en-suite) apartment situated in the residential area of Frankfield, Douglas, Cork. It contains a full kitchen with all mod cons and is supplied with basic condiments, still & sparkling water, Nespresso coffee and a selection of black, green, fruit & herbal teas.
Other guests staying in the main house have NO ACCESS to this part of the property and no facilities are shared with the other guests.
Towels, hairdryer, shampoo/conditioner, ear plugs, eyemasks, cotton buds, facial wipes and make-up remover pads are all supplied as standard.

Parking Facilities
There is free parking outside of the property, either in the driveway or beside the footpath (sidewalk) - depending on availability at time of arrival. There are also additional parking spaces available in the turnaround area 5 doors above the property.

Public Transport
For guests who wish to use public transport during their stay - the No. 206 bus begins its route at the stop 2 minutes walk from the property. This bus operates every 15 minutes during the day and every 30 minutes in the evening from 18.45. The bus runs from 07.00-23.15 and the finishes its route at South Mall in Cork City. The journey takes approximately 20 minutes depending on traffic/time of day and costs €2.40 per person, each way.

Clean, comfortable & friendly - just like home. Ideal location for attending the many events in Cork, such as the Kinsale 7's Rugby Tournament, Live at the Marquee, Cork Jazz Festival, early flights from Cork Airport and many more.

Located two miles south of Cork city centre, the suburb of Douglas has a population of more than 20,000. But locals say that, despite its size, it has a village feel.

Cork is all about sailing, and Douglas is within easy reach of the Royal Cork Yacht Club in Crosshaven, the centre of the universe for yachties.
Douglas RFC, founded in 1902, was one of the earliest Cork Rugby clubs and is well-supported by the locals.

Douglas has two golf courses - Douglas Golf Club at Maryborough Hill and Frankfield Golf Club, where there is also a range. There's also a pitch and putt club, and GAA clubs in the area include the Douglas GAA and Nemo Rangers hurling and football clubs. Nemo Rangers were historically associated with Turners Cross, but moved to a new location in the Trabeg area of Douglas in the 1990s.

Local soccer clubs include Tramore Athletic FC, Grangevale AFC, College Corinthians AFC and Douglas Hall AFC. Other sports clubs in the area include Douglas Tennis Club, Fr. Mathews Basketball Club and Douglas Gymnastics Club. Douglas Community Park runs parallel to East and West Douglas Villages, takes up a five-acre area between the two villages and is a fine local amenity.

Douglas is well-placed for access to the holiday towns and villages of the Cork coastline, including Kinsale, Schull, Baltimore and Skibbereen. Ballymaloe is half an hour away, and there are terrific restaurants, cafes and artisan food producers close by.

The East and West Villages of Douglas are home to numerous shops, supermarkets, pubs, boutiques, restaurants, and a five-screen cinema. Douglas has two shopping centres - the Douglas Court Shopping Centre in the East Village area, where the anchor tenant is Dunnes Stores, and the Douglas Village Shopping Centre, which spans between the east and west villages, and has branches of Tesco and Marks & Spencer. There's a weekly farmers' market on Saturday, with over 40 stalls selling local produce. In Cork City, the English Market is open all week and an excellent resource for foodies.

Gems Place is a 4 bedroom property, 3 rooms of which are available to book, the 4th room is occupied by the owners, who are a working couple. We have also recently added a newly renovated apartment to the rear of the house which is completely self contained. We want all guests to have a restful and peaceful stay whether it be for work or holiday, to ensure this a curfew time is set and party goers are discouraged from booking. In addition all guests are requested to close doors quietly at all times but especially during the "quiet times" of 10 pm to 6 am. Check in times are set for 3 pm to 9 pm daily and this is an important fact that must be agreed to before booking as rarely late requests will be allowed. I'm a Corkonian born & bred so I know all the magical places to visit locally in what really is the true capital of Ireland.
