Quiet countryside location in the centre of Ireland. Great access to roads leading to the major airports. Welcome to our cosy cottage located less than 5 mins drive from Lough Ree on the River Shannon. 10 mins drive from Athlone town with shopping, restaurants, and tourist attractions. An ideal central base and home away from home for overseas guests planning to visit Ireland’s amazing sights. Would make a great base for families visiting Baysports, Ireland’s largest floating water park.

The space
Sleeping space for 5 with 2 double bedrooms and a single room decorated for a child. One bathroom with toilet and shower facilities. Kitchen with all the necessary amenities. Living room with comfortable seating and dining area. TV and Wi-Fi available. There are some bats in the cottage attic. Guests never see them but they can make scratching noises at times. They’re protected so we can’t move them. Most guests don’t hear them.

Where you’ll be

Athlone, County Roscommon, Ireland

Visit the attractions of Athlone and Lough Ree in Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands such as Vikings Cruises, Athlone Whiskey Tours, and Luan Art Gallery. For history buffs, there is plenty to discover with Clonmacnoise, Athlone Castle, Rinn Duin Castle looped walk and the Derryglad Folk Museum all nearby. Don’t miss The Old Rail Trail, a designated cycle path that starts at Garrycastle, on the eastern side of Athlone. No visit to Athlone is complete without dropping in for a pint at Sean’s Bar, Ireland’s Oldest Pub. The recently opened Center Parcs, Longford Forest is only a 35 mins drive away.
Foodies are in luck with Thyme and The Fatted Calf restaurants in Athlone. If craft beer and freshly baked pizza is your thing, then head to Dead Centre Brewing, also in Athlone. Their motto is ‘Dead Good Beer in the Dead Centre of Ireland!’. The famed Wineport Lodge is 15 minutes away, situated between the villages of Ballykeeran and Glasson on the far side of Lough Ree. In Roscommon town, you won’t go hungry with Gleeson’s Townhouse and Rogue and Co café.
