SLEEPS 16! Borders 6000+acre woods!
Wild and wonderful! The world stops here! Relax on the deck and listen to the mountain stream tumbling over rocks across the edge of the open backyard. Enjoy the sights and sounds of nature from the patio swing. In summer meditate in the secluded hammock by the stream flanked by rhododendrons and mossy boulders. In cool weather feel the warmth of the crackling fire you build in the woods by the creek.

The space
Beyond our property lies a huge expanse of forest, including both private land as well as State game lands. We haven’t explored that area much, but we know that it contains plentiful wildlife.

From our deck we have watched deer grazing on our willow tree, an occasional black bear lumbering across our backyard, wild turkeys scratching for food, foxes, raccoons, a bald eagle soaring overhead, and many other species of birds. In the winter, we enjoy seeing the animal tracks in the snow.

There is a hunting cabin to the north side of the house about 200 feet away, and a few houses at the foot of the mountain across the road. The neighboring residents are very quiet people who also enjoy the wildlife.

7 minutes to Weaver Falls BOAT LAUNCH and PLAYGROUND at the very southern, narrow end of the lake.

10 minutes to the Lake Raystown Resort MARINA and BOAT RENTALS. Kayaks, canoes, jet skis, and paddle boats for rent at Portside Rentals there as well.
Kids enjoy feeding the carp and the ducks along the pier at the marina.
The Resort also has a small kid-friendly WATERPARK. Open 12-6.

12 Minutes to TATMAN RUN with a small, secluded BEACH, PLAYGROUND, and BOAT LAUNCH. Free. Love it.

30 minutes to SEVEN POINTS, a more developed tourist area with a LARGER BEACH and MARINA with boat rentals. Nice.

15 minutes to TROUGH CREEK STATE PARK with its beautiful trails. Cross the hanging foot bridge. Walk along the tumbling Trough Creek with its lovely falls. Hike to Balanced Rock. Choose a hot day to visit the “ice mine” in the park. Just explore. Free. Our family enjoys this.

1 minute to one of the entrances to 6,000+ acres of State Game Lands --not as scenic, but rich in wildlife. Rough road --best to use a truck, jeep, or SUV.

10 minutes to Warriors Path State Park -named for the famous path used by the Iroquois in raids and wars with the Cherokees and other American Indians in southern Pennsylvania.

5 minutes to the southern access point to Terrace Mountain Trail which runs 29 miles from Weaver Falls Bridge to Huntingdon. It follows Terrace Mountain, the ridge directly across the road from Little Valley Lodge.
