Where you’ll be

Atri, Abruzzo, Italy

The historic center preserves its ancient medieval appearance, in some places modeled on the Roman city. The Corso Elio Adriano, for example, connects the two most important points of the city, Piazza del Duomo and Piazza Duchi Acquaviva (called Piazza del Comune, formerly Piazza Guglielmo Marconi), which in Roman times were precisely the Baths and the Forum. Characteristic especially the district of Capo d'Atri, that of Santa Maria and that of San Giovanni (near Porta San Domenico), with tiny streets that sometimes allow the passage of only one person at a time. monuments has remained predominantly medieval, while the interior in the Baroque has undergone many alterations, as has happened to the churches of San Domenico and Santa Chiara. There are also many museums (6), which make it the city with the largest number of museums in Abruzzo. The richness of the historical and artistic heritage and in general cultural evidence of the great importance and the great history that Atri has had in the past.
