Where you’ll be

Pieve San Giovanni, Toscana, Italy

Casa Adriana is in a strategic location, a crossroads between Tuscany, Umbria, Marche and Emilia Romagna. It is located in a very ancient area, both from a geological and historical point of view. The undulating hills known as the "beaches" that form the Valley of the Beaches, date back to the Pleistocene and are still found there today, traces of the presence of prehistoric man. Already 2000 years ago during the Roman Empire was a very developed area in agriculture and for the production of ceramics. You can reach on foot, Pieve a Sietina, Pieve S. Giovanni, La Badia di Campoleone, Cincelli and the Arno River, with its Ponteburiano - the latter built in 1277 was immortalized by Leonardo da Vinci, in his famous painting, "La Gioconda" - 15 minutes by car or public transport, you can reach Arezzo, an ancient city of Etruscan origin. It preserves most of the Renaissance walls that surround it, culminating in the Medici fortress. The appearance of Arezzo is mainly medieval and rich in history. They have left here their works artists like Piero della Francesca - the legend of the true cross - in the Basilica of San Francesco, Il Petrarca - the greatest poet - of which it is still possible to visit the house today. The Vasari, excellent architect who designed the Ufizzi of Florence, after having built one of the most beautiful buildings in Arezzo, located in Piazza Vasari, or "the loggias of Vasari. Dante also left his mark in Arezzo, where he was exiled. Much of the old town has been used as a setting for Roberto Benigni's Oscar-winning film "La Vita è Bella". Arezzo with its province also gave birth to Michelangelo and Guido Monaco - the latter has created the pentagram and musical notes as we know them today. The province with its 4 valleys - Valdarno, Valdichiana, Valtiberina and Casentino offers places full of history, nature and spirituality, with many protected areas and the National Park of the Casentino Forests. Thelatter houses two places of worship and spirituality, known throughout the world: Camaldoli and its hermitage immersed in the forest and the ancient sanctuary of Verna - a suggestive place with a powerful spiritual and naturalistic impact, where St. Francis of Assisi lived the last part of his life, composing the song of the creatures and receiving the stigmata.
