Where you’ll be

Little Easton, England, United Kingdom

Little Easton manor is documented in history, dating back to its first mention in the Doomsday book as Estaines Parva. During the 14th century Lady Eleanor de Louvain inherited the estate from her father and went on to marry William Bourchier, their grandson Henry married Isabel Plantagenent (the aunt of Edward IV and Richard III) and became the 1st Earl of Essex.
Anne Bourchier (daughter of the 2nd Earl of Essex) married William Parr who was brother to Catherine Parr ( Henry VIII's sixth and final wife) William went on to obtain his wife's land and titles after their marriage was annulled due to the scandal of her elopement with a lover! The estate went from his ownership into the hands of the Throckmorton family who subsequently presented it to the church. When Elisabeth I ascended the throne she presented the Estate to Henry Maynard who was her then Lord Chancellor.
By the 19th Century Frances 'Daisy' Maynard had inherited the estate, she upheld a iconic place in society , not least because of a 9 year liaison with Edward Prince of Wales!
In 1925 the estate was sold to theatrical impresario Basil Dean and has played host to the performances of Gracie Fields, Charlie Chaplin and Rowan Atkinson to name just a few. Little Easton Manor is now entrusted into the hands of the Mahoney family who are enthused with promoting its cultural and historical links and its strong community presence for years to come.
