Norlands Cottage is a beautiful character cottage in the heart of the New Forest, where ponies, donkeys, cows, sheep and pigs all roam free, so expect a visitor or two to stop by! Come the end of your stay you may recognise some of the regulars that pop their heads over the fence to greet you.

The space
Situated in desirable Pikes Hill on the edge of Lyndhurst, the cottage is in a peaceful spot on a country lane within the New Forest boundaries, providing ample opportunities for hiking, biking and sight-seeing. Thirty seconds down the gravel track on foot brings you directly into the woods where you can walk to the source of Beaulieu River. The village green is a beautiful spot to sit and is just a stone’s throw away.

At just a 10 minute stroll into the centre of Lyndhurst, you have access to all you need on foot. Known as the "capital of the New Forest", Lyndhurst is home to the New Forest Visitors Centre & Heritage Museum, as well as numerous independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants, bus tours and bike hire. Peppa Pig World is also on the doorstep at just a 12 minute drive away. The beach is also within easy reach: a 30 minute drive or so depending on which on the many beaches you choose. If you love water-sports or just enjoy splashing around, you’ll love the New Forest Waterpark or the Sea Water Baths in Lymington. Dry ski slope, climbing wall and velodrome can all be found a Calshot Activity centre just a 20 min drive away.

The Cottage
Norlands Cottage is a newly refurbished detached cottage on a country lane within the boundaries of the New Forest National Park.

A large gravel area to the front of the cottage provides unrestricted parking. The property is fenced all around with a shed to the side large enough to store and lock four bikes. A bench to the front of the property provides the perfect spot to sit with a coffee and watch the forest animals as they pass. Through a gate to the side there is a small patio dining area with a Mediterranean style BBQ. Despite its size it is quite the suntrap.

Inside, a beautiful double fronted log burner divides the sitting room and dining area, allowing the fire to be enjoyed from both spaces.

There is new parquet flooring throughout the downstairs. The sitting room has two comfortable sofas, an Amazon Echo (sign in to your own account to use Alexa and listen to your music) and a large flat screen smart tv to access all the usual on demand apps, Netflix, Prime etc. There is high speed WIFI to stay connected or work from the cottage.

In the dining area, there is a chunky, round dining table next to the window – a good place to spot passing forest animals. The open plan space incorporates the kitchen allowing for sociable cooking/dining.

Enjoy the log burner during meal time or curl up next to it in the cushioned nook. This space is a firm favourite; nothing nicer when the weather is bad than snuggling up in the nook next to a roaring fire and reading a book.

In the kitchen you will find everything you need to cook just as you would at home. Amenities include Nespresso coffee machine, kettle, cafetière, toaster, microwave, oven, electric hob, full sized dishwasher, under-counter fridge-freezer.

The bathroom is newly fitted with an L-shaped bath with overhead rain shower plus shower wand.

Upstairs, the master bedroom has a king sized four poster bed, period features and antique furniture. The bedroom is dual aspect with views along the lane. The second bedroom has a double bed. Both bedrooms have Amazon Dots for playing your music and accessing Alexa. Guests are provided with crisp bed linen and fluffy towels.

Right in the New Forest where the animals roam right passed the cottage, there’s no better place to experience what the ancient woodland has to offer.

Though only a ten minute walk from Lyndhurst, Pikes Hill is a peaceful spot that can be accessed without encountering the Lyndhurst traffic that can build up at peak times. It’s a great spot to holiday to enjoy, biking and hiking, sightseeing or daytrips to the beach.

By car - just ten minutes from the M27 and A3.
By train - the nearest mainline station is Brockenhurst, just less than 5 miles away, with direct trains straight to London Waterloo.
By air – the closest airport is Southampton Airport.
