Our 2 bedroom, one bathroom cottage is equipped with all the kitchen amenities you will ever need. If we don't have it, we will get it for you since we are just holler away, next door. You can sit at the kitchen table or relax on the couch and enjoy scenic Tors Cove Pond. Step through the patio doors off the kitchen and further enjoy the scenery on our deck that is equipped with seating and a BBQ.

The space
Driftwood Cottage, located about 1/2 hour drive from St. John's on the Irish Loop, is beautiful little cottage nestled in the trees overlooking Tors Cove Pond, Tors Cove. We (Tanya and Jim Murphy) offer a clean, bright cottage with 2 bedrooms, kitchen, living room and full bath. Our drinking water is the best there is around as it comes from an artesian well that is over 150 ft deep. You can sit inside by the glowing wood stove and admire the local art, play some board games or read a book from our variety of NL authors. If you like the outdoors, visitors can sit around the fire pit, enjoy lounging on their own private beach and floating dock or take a dip in the pond. At no extra charge, visitors can also enjoy a single and double kayak, lifejackets, a variety of floats, paddle board, hammock and peddle bikes.

Across the road, you can find local, fresh eggs. In a 10 minute walk, you can reach the ocean and the East Coast Trail. Within 15 minute drive you can access restaurants, coffee shops, supermarket, puffin and whale boat tours and craft shops. Within a 1/2 hr drive south to Ferryland, you can explore the Colony of Avalon's Archaeological Dig ( where I just happened to work for several years unearthing artifacts), explore the foundations of Lord Baltimore's Mansion House ( which just happens to be next to my family house , where my mom still lives) or enjoy a picnic at Historic Ferryland Lighthouse ( where my father just happened to be the lighthouse keeper in the 70's and 80's).A short 40 minute drive south of Ferryland is the Mistaken Point UNESCO World Heritage site featuring the oldest fossils of multi cellular life forms on earth. A pretty cool area!!!
