Where you’ll be

Corrientes, Argentina

Referring to the tradition and origins of Corrientes, it is impossible not to stop at the Cambá Cua Neighborhood, whose meaning “cave of blacks” in Guaraní, dates back to the settlement of Afro-descendants of the nineteenth century who left their cultural roots firmly rooted in the history of the city.
Throughout its 428 years of history, the city of Corrientes encloses thousands of stories among its streets and corners and where one of the richest is that of the Cambá Cua neighborhood, the traditional drumming, mass and procession in homage to the "saint of the cambá” has been growing year after year in recent decades, bringing together thousands of neighbors, citizens, visitors and faithful who come every January 5 and 6 to celebrate the eve and the day in honor of San Baltasar.
Also, the privileged geographical location, infrastructure works such as the construction of the waterfront and the Chaco-Corrientes interprovincial bridge, its proximity to the historic centre and the capital's commercial area, together with the growing real estate market, make the neighborhood a strategic place within the city of Corrientes.
The characteristic point of the neighborhood is the traditional Cambá Qué Park: the green space, has a lagoon and is one of the favorite meeting points of the currents. Likewise, in the place it is possible to find murals and artistic works reminiscent not only of San Baltasar but also of the roots of Afro-descendants of the neighborhood, as well as the Adolfo Mors Cultural Center, the cultural and historical imprint continues in force through its streets, in its chamamé, in its artistic murals and in the gaze of the members of the San Baltasar brotherhood and of each of the faithful to the black saint who meet every January 6.
