this house, by the Niyodo River (Ino Village in the Kochi Prefecture), was built in the Meiji Era. Along with friends, I’ve been renewing and rebuilding the house to be as simple and cozy as possible and using mostly natural materials, so that every guest would be able to enjoy and relax.

The space
This guesthouse features a dining room on the second floor with a traditional atmosphere and a tatami bungalow bedroom. The dining room is fully stocked with cooking utensils, so you can use it like a home kitchen. There is a hammock, fireplace, guitar and piano to relax in. The bungalow has a tatami mat room with Japanese architecture, as well as an old-fashioned Tsubaki (Kamado) where you can enjoy cooking rice in an earthenware pot.You can go out to Kawara in 3 minutes on foot, so it's also a good idea to enjoy a BBQ.

The main house, dining room, bath, toilet, etc. are on the premises, but the building is separated. There is a roof in the aisle, so you don't have to worry about getting wet on a rainy day.

Because it is a little high, you will have to climb the stairs to the entrance. There are steps in the house and baths and facilities. If you have a disability or are worried, please contact us.

The house:

It's a big, historic house, from the Meiji Era (1868 ~ 1912).
Due to its age and character, there may be some inconvenience but it’s still a unique experience!
The house has separate buildings: the kitchen and dining room; the living and sleeping area; the shower; and the toilet.
Even though they’re in separate buildings, the path is all sheltered and it’s 2~10 steps between one building and the other. Even if it’s raining, you won’t get wet or tired. It’s pretty much like outdoor hallways.

There are stairs from the road to the house and to enter the kitchen. The shower area and the sleeping areas are also at a higher level.

The kitchen has every cooking utensils and the seasonings you’ll need. There’s even a rice cooker!
There’s shampoo, body soap, towels, hair dryer, a stainless steel Japanese style bathtub (ofuro) and a shower in the shower room. We also provide toothbrushes, toothpaste, sleeping masks, and ear plugs.
You’ll be able to experience sleeping in a tatami room, over a futon mattress.
