This traditional wooden house in a semi-modern setting offers a beautiful panorama view over rice fields. Located at the edge of a suburban village it is the perfect spot to relax in tropical nature and to explore the village life.

We are a German-Indonesian family that has been in love with the area around this place for years. All day long there blows a soft, chill wind - in Javanese "Silir" - through the rice fields and invites people to relax and let go from their hectic everyday life.

The space
This traditional wooden “Limasan” house offers a spacious room that is divided into a sleeping and a living-room area. Furnished with a modern wooden king-size bed (180 x 200 cm) and an old-style Javanese sofa (140 x 200 cm) it suits well to accommodate either couples, families with up to 2 children or small groups. The large window in the sleeping part provides a stunning view over the rice field area right from the bed.

The semi-open kitchen invites to cook and have meals while enjoying the panorama view. It is equipped with a stove, a fridge, a water dispenser, kitchen and cooking utensils as well as a table and chairs for 4 people.

Attached to the house there is semi-open-air bathroom that is beautifully designed using natural materials. In our unique bamboo-shower you can take a shower both with cool or hot water.

The house is surrounded by tropical nature. Birds chirp in the morning, a chill breeze blows all day, geckos crawl around and at night frogs are performing their concert in the fields.

Witness all this from a set of restored traditional chairs on the terrace that invite to sit, relax and enjoy watching the tranquil life in the rice fields.

On request, we provide an extra bed (160x200, matrass on the floor) for up to 2 people. Next to “Omah Silir” we also rent our one-room guesthouse “Sawah Breeze” – for more information please insert this link to your browser https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/20905168.

FOOD
We serve breakfast with a choice of several dishes: Bread & egg, Muesli, Bubur (rice porridge with vegetable) or Nasi Goreng (fried rice) together with coffee, tea and fruits.

In walking distance in the nearby village and along the main road, there are several Warung (food stalls) serving local food during day and nighttime. A 10 min walk away, there are 2 small hotels that offer a choice of Western food.

Kasihan, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta, Indonesia

You may see farmers working on the fields or tending sheep and they may look at you or greet you. In that case, we kindly ask you to just smile and greet back and contribute to the harmonic atmosphere that the people there are used to.

Our land is located in the middle of tropical nature. And of course, there are also other creatures living there. We do our best to separate their and our habitat but please consider this fact when making a booking.

We have been in love with the area around our guesthouses since years. We love nature and the tranquility of village life there. Our daughters enjoy playing in the fields, looking for "golden beetles", running and cycling around and also sometimes getting very muddy ;).
We built our guesthouse to have a place to relax at the weekend, to welcome relatives and friends and - to provide a convenient spot for guests from all over the world that like being in nature and experience Indonesian rural life from up close.
