Arriving on two wheels? We have space for 2 motorbikes in the garage below.

We are 7 miles from Durham, 15 minutes by car.

Views are great, the Loft is located in our large garden in the middle of the countryside at the end of a farm track, it is half a mile from the nearest road meaning ZERO traffic noise.

The headroom is kind of tight along the two sides but, at 6 feet tall I manage okay. Perfect for two, but can easily cope with 4 people. The Loft is accessed by external concrete steps.

The space
The Loft has a 40" Samsung TV, Wi Fi, Fridge with freezer box, Combi microwave/grill, kettle & toaster and a Tasimo coffee machine with pods provided. There is a hob but no oven.

Where you’ll be

County Durham, England, United Kingdom

https://www.thisisdurham.com/

There are only 6 properties here, one farmhouse and five converted barns. There are no street lights - it's great!

There are loads of places to visit - Durham Cathedral and Castle, Seaham Harbour (for seaglass & Tommy - ask us about Tommy or look him up)), Beamish open air museum, Hartlepool Maritime museum, Sunderland National Glass Museum are a just a few interesting places nearby.

Nature lovers will also love how close we are to the stunning Castle Eden Dene Nature reserve which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, it is a series of deep ravines and is the largest area of semi-natural woodland in the north-east of England. Also the beautiful Hawthorn Dene, which is managed by the Woodland Trust has walks of varying distance. You can walk through the Dene to a deserted bay where you can find sea glass (depending on the tide) and the village pub, The Stapylton Arms, serves a reasonably priced lunch. The cosy bar has a log burner and welcomes dogs.

Durham, Sunderland, Newcastle, Darlington and Middlesbrough are all easy to get to.

With vibrant cities, stunning coastline, a rich local heritage and areas of outstanding natural beauty on the doorstep, you’ll always have lots of ways to spend your free time.

The famous Durham Heritage Coastline is just a few miles away and its stunning National Nature Reserve. Packed with natural and historical highlights around every headland, it is a great place to explore and enjoy the fresh sea air. The popular coastal town of Seaham is a 15 minute drive away.

The North York Moors National Park and the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty both make fantastic days out and are both easy to get to.

Pauline - (written by Bill) is the business end of the partnership. Dr P, as she is known in certain circles, has left the health service but now works even harder than before. When she isn't walking Mollie our collie she can be found organising rental properties, up-cycling furniture, knitting, sewing, gardening and constantly cleaning - anything that's dirty! She never switches on the TV, leaving me at least one daily task to carry out.

Bill - we're both from Billy Elliot country, well, that's where they shot a good part of the movie, in Easington Colliery, County Durham UK. Our favourite destinations include Scotland and the Greek Islands. I also like Japan. Other things you don't really need to know about me, I could be thinner but lack will power, I could be younger but was born a bit too early to qualify.
