The living room/dining room /kitchen have an airy open aspect with views over a green open space and are filled with light. They are not overlooked.
The house is an upside down one with the living area/dining room/kitchen and bathroom upstairs and the bedroom downstairs. PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS ONLY ONE BEDROOM WHICH CONTAINS ONLY ONE DOUBLE BED.
There is a carport, a small front garden and a private seating area at the rear.
There is double glazing throughout and gas central heating.

The space
There is a downstairs bedroom and a small hallway leading to stairs to the open plan upstairs living room/dining room and kitchen. The bathroom is also upstairs.
There are French windows in the dining area giving access to a small balcony with views across the open countryside across the road. There is a small private area at the back of the house with a table and chairs.
Fully fitted kitchen with fridge and built in freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, toaster and kettle. Freeview TV upstairs.
Gas central heating.
In the distance, when the leaves have fallen off the trees, it is possible to see Penshaw Monument.
We have called it “Over the Top”, because the living area is upstairs and the bedroom is downstairs. We used to go to a cafe in Cockermouth, which was also called Over the Top, as it was upstairs, over the top.

The house is about 2 miles north of the beautiful Cathedral City of Durham. The Cathedral is well worth a visit as is the Castle, but as this is used as student accommodation during term time, you may have to book your visit in advance.
The local pub, the Tap and Spile, is only a few minutes walk away and is a real ale pub. The Millennium Restaurant is even nearer.
There are also various convenience stores not too far away.
The Arnison Shopping Centre (an out of town shopping centre), is easily accessible by car and bus and is within about 20 minutes walking distance.
Over the Top is conveniently situated for access to Northumberland and the coast and for exploring County Durham.
It is within easy access of the University Hospital of North Durham for anyone visiting friends or family or receiving treatment as a day patient there.
It is also convenient for family and friends attending graduation ceremonies at Durham University.
The house is on the main bus route to Durham and Newcastle and there is a good bus service to both places and to surrounding areas.
About 10 minutes walk away is The Carrs Nature Reserve. The footpath round the perimeter of the reserve has been resurfaced and is easily accessible. There are also paths across the reserve itself, where there are also several large areas of water supporting wildlife.
