Landsdowne Cottage is only a 10 minute walk to the nearest beach.Turn right out of the gate and cross the main road.Walk down the lane .Its a nice easy stroll .Local fishermen use this beach to set off from and when the tide is low there is a causeway and a rocky walk round the island. For a longer walk , turn left out of the gate .Its about 1.5miles to the first lake. To Glen Inchaquin park is about 8 miles.
The nearest pub is the Lake House which is a 2 minute drive when turning left onto the main road. You can get food here and there is often tradition music on a Sunday. If you turn right onto the main road and drive 6 miles, The Sailors Bar is a popular relaxed place for food.
For a full day out the whole of the Beara Peninsula is a stunning scenic adventure.Visit Allihes beach and you will find Beara Barista Vintage caravan serving light snacks and good coffee.
For basic provisions like bread , butter , milk and briquettes for the fire Tuosist post office is 2 miles away .Turn right out of the gate and then left at the main road.Drive past the Lake House pub and the turning to the right.Take the next right hand turning off of the main road.(There is a sign on the left there for Alpaca trekking) You will find the post office at the top of that road.
