Where you’ll be

Căpățânenii Pământeni, Argeș County, Romania

The surroundings offer numerous opportunities for trips in the area.

- Our house is on the west side of the Transfagarasan Road (the second highest mountain pass in Romania, the road climbs to an altitude of 2,042 metres (6,699 ft). Crossing this passage through the mountains offers unique natural sights.

- Our house is only 4 km away from Poenari Fortress (13th century), one of the main fortress of Vlad the Impaler, or, as many know him, “Dracula”. The access to the citadel is made by climbing the 1,480 concrete stairs. The sight seeing is worth this physical challenge.

- 14 km to Vidraru Lake.

- Bâlea Lake and Bâlea Waterfall (62 km distance from the house) - during warmer weather, the little mountain cabin here offers a good stop over for admiring the panorama of mountain tops reflected in the still lake and the opportunity of enjoying home-made traditional food.

- Only 22 km from Curtea de Arges, a nice provincial city with restaurants, terraces and markets, the area offers a couple of famous medieval churches such as Arges Monastery.
Arges Monastery (early 16th century) is very famous because of one well-known legend that tells about the troubles of its making.
14th century church Saint Nicolae has some of the oldest frescoes in the country.
