Our historic family farm has 180 acres. The main house has been renovated to reflect a Greek revival kind of architecture that was prevalent in this area during the early 1800’s.

The guest house is of new construction and is attached to the garage. It has a private porch attached to the back.

The space
The guest house is quaintly and efficiently arranged. There is a queen size bed which is used by most guests without any difficulty. If you want to add another bed, there is a fold out twin size bed that works well for most adults and small children. There is a one time $20 fee if you use the extra twin sized bed. This fee can be paid on the day of your occupancy. There is no way to charge for an extra bed on the Airbnb site so we suggest that you have some cash in hand for this service.
Sycamore Hill is situated in quietly serene countryside. The township road that divides the property sees little traffic. There are no immediate neighbors.

Need a grocery store? We suggest Gerwig’s White Barn Market. It is only a few miles away. They have a fantastic, old fashioned meat market where they hand cut their meats daily. They also grow their own produce. Check it out on your GPS, or ask Molly how to find it .
Many Amish farms have small produce stands. If you drive the back roads you can find them easily. There are hand written signs posted at the end of the driveways listing what things are for sale.

Glenn and I love living on our heritage farm. We still own the original quarter section of land (180 acres) that was homesteaded long before Ohio became a State. Sycamore Hill has been in our family since 1864. We are surrounded by old order Amish farms.
The farm is partly wooded acreage and partly devoted to crop farming. We also have a “back 40” region of the farm that is devoted to natural landscape. Here you will find secluded walking paths and a well stocked fishing pond.

During your stay

We are open to whatever would make our guests most comfortable. We understand that many quest are looking for a place of peaceful solitude. We encourage guests to discover the back 40 acres of our property, where walking paths wind through the natural landscape. Here, you will be free to discover wildlife, think, dream, write or just plain walk!

There is a pond in the back 40. We keep fishing poles handy if you’d like to try to catch some bluegill or bass. We would also be happy to set a campfire for you. Sitting by the fire at the end of the day is something we enjoy.
