Location, location, location - that alone makes this property (Ph: 989999 followed by 7370) worth your consideration. Not just for connectivity (it is the first upscale in-town place of stay as you come from the Airport towards Dibrugarh town; and it's just 10-15 minutes away from Assam Medical College and Main Bazaar), it is also in the greenest neighbourhood of Dibrugarh. With the sprawling Jalan tea garden in front of the house, the area is also the quietest and your room, a creative story.

The space
The first house along the tea garden with red tin roof, this is a brand new property specially made for homestays. The ground floor, built by my late father, is for our private use, while all the three large bedrooms upstairs are for guests. Two more very cozy and cool rooms on the loft are being made ready too. You can book the entire house - with extra beds etc, 10 people can easily stay. This particular room has a black and white theme with large window panes, a private bathroom and a large balcony that looks out to tall betel nut trees. The low floor double bed is designed like a keyboard. One of the walls have a large yin and yan symbol for balance and harmony. Very airy and full of natural light, you will rarely need to use the AC. Enjoy the fresh air as you slide the large windows and let the outdoors flow into your bedroom. The private bathroom is also squeaky clean and spacious.

Where you’ll be

Dibrugarh, Assam, India

The very name of the neighbourhood, Seujpur, means green - Seuj standing for green in Assamese. It is home to the town's intellectuals, doctors, politicians and top businessmen. The road in front takes you across two gardens on either side, as you go for a morning walk right upto the Brahmaputra banks or to Assam Medical College - Northeast India's first medical college. Along the way you will see some pretty Assam type houses. The neighbourhood is also very quiet.
My parents were the first-gen settlers here, I being the second. Undoubtedly the most sought after neighbourhood in town. It is also very very well connected.

I am a travel and lifestyle journalist by profession and a drummer and a machirologist (knife collector) by passion. Chilled-out and friendly, I divide my time between New Delhi (where my family lives) and Dibrugarh (where my mother stays). I had been with several top newspapers (Indian Express, Hindustan Times, Mail Today, etc) and magazines (had been the managing Editor of Harper's Bazaar and Air India inflight magazine) and have travelled extensively across Europe, Asia and Africa. I love parties, world and electronic music and read thrillers. A happy-go-lucky guy you will get along with me easily. Like with most Assamese, hospitality comes naturally to me. I guess that is enough for the time being and should you want to learn more about me, just type my name Nishiraj Baruah on a search engine!
