On the old original N2, this cosy house in the village of São Domingos is 3 miles (5km) from Penedo Furado, 5 miles (8km) from the beautiful village of Sardoal and 6 miles (10km) from the Zêzere reservoir.

Here, travelers had long passed: the Bernardinos were the Blacksmiths of the land, preparing the animals for the rest of the journey, whether along the old N2, or to the lands of Zêzere.

From this house where you will feel the peace of the countryside and the history of the people, you will easily reach the fantastic places of interest around.

The space
It is a cozy little house with a living room, three bedrooms, kitchen and a bathroom. Outside, a space to stay or eat, in the shade of the pear tree next to the vegetable garden or in the hut next to the instruments of the field and the blacksmith.

Small details of the house and its utensils already feel the weight of age, but we try to keep it always functional and clean for those who pass by.

The house continues to be used by the family on vacations and weekends, and therefore contains several items and storage suitable for this type of use. The guest compartments containing the essentials are properly marked in the house itself.

We advise booking only if you are comfortable with the situation described above.

- Historic village of Sardoal (8km to the north)
- Fontes River Beach (10km to the west by EM548), in the reservoir of Zêzere, with its beautiful landscapes and a fantastic bar to chill. To other more "secret" places, in Portela or Matagosa, ask them.

- Dam of Castelo de Bode (20km to the southwest)
- Tomar, the surreal city of the Templars (30km)
- Cardigos River Beach (26km)

Suggestion of walking for 1 day (~11km):
Head to Matagosa. Take the trail towards Penedo Furado beach. Follow the walkways to the waterfalls. Continue along the trail by Codes until you reach the bridge. Return by the old N2 towards São Domingos.

In São Domingos:
The simple Café Bernardino, as the name implies, also son of the Blacksmiths, is great for relaxing and contacting the locals over a coffee or a mini.
For football, if the terrain conditions allow, the São Domingos field is always free (follow 500m north on the N2).

ATTRACTIONS IN THE REGION:
- Penedo Furado (5km south through the N2). Today, a paridise place to be, walk and swim. In the past, where the ancient people and the Romans extracted gold and silver from the cliffs surrounding the stream.

At São Domingos
The simple Bernardino Caffe, as the name indicates, also a son of the Ferradores (farriers), is great to relax with a coffee or beer and contacting the locals.

I love living the real life of the places where I go. Together with my wife Filipa, we love to share the life of where we live, so besides being part of the Warmshowers network, we rent our home whenever we go on holidays.
