This charming summer cottage has origins in the 1920s and is one of the most private spots on all of Lake Sylvia. Seated on 20+ acres of maples and cedars, you will enjoy walks in the woods and private access to the cleanest and most well-known lake in the area. It's a beautiful spot for families to get away, kick back and experience lake life.

The space
We've decorated with antiques, and recently updated the kitchen and added wireless internet. A separate boathouse has a rooftop deck and is a few feet from the water, a great spot to watch the sunset. Bring your boat, or fish and swim right from the dock.

The cottage is located just off of the Lake Sylvia Peninsula Road. This road winds between East and West Lake Sylvia. It's a great spot to walk or ride bikes as it gets very little traffic. You are bound to see some wildlife here. It’s not uncommon to see deer as you are driving down our driveway. There are a pair of sandhill cranes nearby. Listen for their bizarre call and for the many loons on the lake.

Things that make me feel like the luckiest person in the world - really great falafel, yummy yarn like Malabrigo, tea with milk, Hitchcock films, Joni Mitchell, Margaret Atwood, Moleskin journals, hoppy beer, my chickens, my kids-the furry and less furry, a husband who can work a sewing machine, and meeting new people at home and "abroad."

I love staying somewhere with character and so do my kids - which might make them kind of strange for tween/teens...and anywhere that will allow me to bring my two Havanese dogs. Basically I like to pretend I live in Europe. Ha!
