Experience this cozy cabin nestled among hickories, oaks, and sycamores, and overlooking a spring fed stream.

Relax on the deck, or follow the woodland trail to a cozy picnic spot beside the stream.

Note: Driveway is rough and steep. Not at all suitable for motorcycles.

The space
Sip your morning coffee with the woods just outside your window, or relaxing on the deck, or down in the woods by the creek. At night, listen to spring peepers and owls, while relaxing in the flickering warmth of an electric fireplace, inside, or a wood fire on the deck.
The patio overlooks the creek. You can relax there among the squirrels and birds, the watercress and wind, and the great old sycamores. Or roast your supper over the fire. Firewood is available here for five dollars a bundle, or bring your own. Also, feel free to scavenge dead and fallen wood from the woods. .

Also, a small charcoal grill is beside the deck. Bring your own charcoal and lighter fluid.

Please do not book with a toddler or crawling baby, as I will be compelled to cancel the reservation, which severely damages my hosting reputation. As you well know, your child is priceless; because of the high deck, this cabin is not the place for him/her.

A $15 cleaning fee is charged only ONCE per reservation, NOT per night.

Much of the year, watercress is available in the springfed creek.

Step back to simpler times! Our cabin has no television, and no wifi. Relax, and enjoy!

This home is located just south of Oaks, Oklahoma. We are in Waterfall Hollow, immortalized in Wilson Rawls' Where the Red Fern Grows; Billy, his dad, granddad, and hounds stopped here on their way to the great coon hunt in Black Fox Hollow, just down the road.

We are only two miles from Scenic Hwy 10, that winds along the Illinois River. There you can find many options for rafting, canoing and kayaking from April through October. We are only three miles from River float rentals.

We are a great place to stay while visiting Natural Falls State Park, 18 miles away.

Three miles away, the Oaks Indian Mission and Oaks Cemetery are rich with the history of the Moravians and Cherokees at the end of the Trail of Tears.

Thirteen miles from us, the J.T. Nickel Family Wildlife and Nature Preserve offers wonderful hiking trails on 17,000 acres of Ozark forest and grassland. Experience the Ozark Mountains as they were before settlement in this vast, amazing preserve.

Barely fifteen minutes away, near Kansas OK, you have several options for eating. Harvest House offers a great local eating experience.

We love sharing the magic and peace of our home in the woods with you!

We have lived in eight states and two countries. Everywhere, we have found delightful people and fascinating history and culture, yet nowhere have we found the sense of home we've found here in Northeastern Oklahoma.

Whether traveling or hosting, each of you are a gift! We are blessed to know each other.
