This 1,200 square foot unit is a 171 year old building that Abe Lincoln stayed in before becoming President. Central A/C, Forced air heat, Two decks (one overlooking the Illinois River), burn pit in yard, outside grill, fully equipped kitchen, Fitted Bed Spreads, Sheets, unattached screened in porch, ample parking, on two private lots, additional upper unit available, access to the Illinois River/ boat ramp near & tie up on Our Two Private Lots, Quiet/Serene atmosphere, privacy is Our Goal!!!

FGH sits in the Village of Florence, a small town along the Illinois River in Pike County. Only 10 people call this town "Home". Tho there are some residents, the calmness of the area is Special. One can watch deer walking thru the town once night approaches. The Quietness of the area is Surprising! The skies are so Black and the stars so Bright due to the lack of smog, it seems one could reach up and touch a star in the night sky!!
***We live with & share with Guests, a Beautiful Piece of Nature Here!!! From Afar....one can see Deer, Foxes, Raccoons, Cardinal & Bluejay Birds, Hummingbirds & Squirrels. We are surrounded by trees & the Illinois River just across the street.***
FGH owns Two lots on the Illinois River where many fish have been caught, so Guests can walk along the river or even throw a fishing line to catch the Big One!!!!
Got a Boat? You can then tie up on those two privately owned lots as well!!

My Love & I worked together to start this Guest House back in 2004. Prior to this time, He & I traveled many times to Texas, staying with a very old friend of His for the winter. I would cook for the Lady & fill up Her freezer before We would head back to Illinois. We always drove to our destinations because we took Our 3 Furry Family members with Us: A Lab, Irish Wolfhound Mix & a Beagle. I learned A Lot about how people like to be treated while on the road because I was amazed at what I saw during Our trips. He died in 2010, but not before the Florence Guest House was up & running. I am Owner/Operator. I do not have employee's for this little GH is way too small for that. I do everything from the bookings to the toilet cleaning. I am the only one with a master key so Guests don't have to worry about who might be coming into the building when not there. There is a 4 number security system on the door so Keys are Never handed out. 4 numbers the Guests pick out opens the door. I personally do everything from changing towels, replacing toilet paper to taking out the garbage & running the vacuum. I do My work when Guests are enjoying the area or those working in the area are at their job. I Never Touch anything but what I'm responsible for & own. I enjoy seeing People Arrive with Excitement & Energy to start their time here, which I try to make: "A Home Away From Home Atmosphere!".

During your stay

FGH has had MANY Guests bringing Their Beautiful Fur Babies along. I've Noticed that sometimes when They want to visit the area, the Fur Babies remain at the guest house. Some of their travel cages are small....SOOO...To Make the Fur Babies Happy & Comfortable.......FGH is Supplying A LARGE doggie cage for Fur Baby Use: Lots of ROOM to move around, have food/water and a Blanket in!!!!!!! FUR BABIES ROCK!!!!!!! Special Note: Upon booking the guesthouse, It is Imperative that You Declare if Fur Baby(s) will be part of Your Party!!!!!
