This beautiful little bolthole is a converted, 19th century railway shed in the picture postcard village of Gilling East.

Brilliantly located on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, it offers cosy and self-contained, shepherd's hut-style accommodation just a stone's throw from a really super pub.

Six miles from Helmsley and a short drive from Castle Howard, the Parcel Shed retains its original beams and enjoys gorgeous views across the lower reaches of the Ampleforth valley.

The space
The Parcel Shed is a very unique, little place and is part of the converted, former railway station that once served the village.

It's been restored to offer bijou holiday accommodation - that includes an en-suite shower room as well as a fully equipped micro kitchen and sitting and eating area.

It's been inspired by the shepherd's huts that are so popular. But unlike a shepherd's hut, the Parcel Shed has the benefit of central heating. It also enjoys superfast broadband, its own front door and a private balcony overlooking the garden and valley.

There is a smart TV and a small hanging area for clothes.

Where you’ll be

Gilling East, United Kingdom

Gilling East really is a picture postcard village with a stream running through its middle. It's on the edge of the Ampleforth Abbey estate and there are fantastic walks and bike rides straight from the door.

The main attractions of the village are the surrounding countryside, the pub and the playground which has its own mini railway open at weekends throughout the summer.

It's ideal for people wanting to get to know this part of Yorkshire a little better.

NB: While the Parcel Shed has wifi, in common with most very rural areas, there is very little mobile signal when you are out and about.
