Architect-designed house in magnificent nature just a few meters from the sea on the island of Meløya in Helgeland. Large property with beaches and land surrounded by rocky outcrops and marshes. This is the Helgeland coast at its best with thousands of small islets and reefs just outside. On fine days, the Lofoten wall can be seen in the north. A paradise for kayakers, fishermen and boat enthusiasts or for those who just want to be present and enjoy the nature of Norway and what it has to offer.

The space
A modern holiday home built in a traditional way. There is a ferry that runs between Meløya and Ørnes several times daily. There is also a grocery store on the island. There are opportunities for fishing, boating, kayaking and cycling. Helgeland is known for its unique landscape. Something special about Meløy is the large archipelago. Hundreds of islets and reefs. There are white sandy beaches on the property and on nearby islets.

The house itself was built in 2017 on 2 floors and is modern and tastefully decorated. There are 2 bathrooms and extra guest WC in the hall. There are a total of 5 bedrooms with room for 10 people either in a double bed or in a bunk bed. Slate with heat is laid in the floor throughout the 1st floor (ground level) except in bedrooms. In the living room is a fireplace oven in soapstone with large glass door. Large windows and direct access to the paved terrace facing the sea in the west.

Boathouse / sauna:
The boathouse right at the seafront are included in the rent. There is a large window in the sauna facing east and the mountains around Svartisen in the distance. Cold tearing in the sea afterwards for the harsh .. Also in the boathouse there is kayaks and a gas grill.

Surroundings:
The house is situated by the sea all the way to the south of the island with magnificent views of the sea and the islands outside. This is a place that suits everyone whether you prefer to be active or appreciate a quieter holiday. Meløya itself offers varied nature with mountains, small water and flat land to the south. This part of Helgeland is characterized by a myriad of islands, islets and reefs with rich traditions for settlement, fishing and trade. On the island of Bolga about 30 min trip with own motor boat there is a very good fishing restaurant and a natural stop-place for boaters traveling along the coast. On the island Støtt about 1 hour trip with own boat north over there is an old trading place that has been converted into a restaurant. Definitely worth visiting. Whether it's winter, summer or autumn, the nature is very present here.

Directions / Parking:
For those who take a flight to Bodø, it is about 2 hours drive from the airport to ferry dock in Ørnes. From here ferry to Meløya and further about 15 min on the way straight ahead (only road) without taking off before the road ends on the actual property just past the small-boat harbor. The property is called "Little Herstrand", and all locals know the name if anyone needs to ask. For those who come by car from the south, there is E6 to Rognan, on to Saltstraumen and from there to Ørnes and ferry from there again. Guests drive to the door and park less than 20 meters from the house

The house is located where the road ends on Meløya. There is a gravel road past the harbor at the penitentiary. You drive past 2 houses located by the gravel road before you drive into the gate to Lille Herstrand.

At Lille Herstrand we can offer a large field, several beaches on the property itself, boathouse with sauna, kayaks, barbecue and rocks to fish or swim from if you wish.

On Meløya you can go on a summit hike and enjoy a fantastic view on a clear day from Lofoten in the north, Træna in the southwest, Lovund in the south and Svartisen in the east.

Bolgtind is also a peak that offers a fantastic view of the skerries in the area.

The cave located on the north side of Meløya is very exciting. Here you can climb down a small hole and a large hall will be explored.

The island also has several galleries that are possible to visit.

If you want culinary experiences, you can arrange a trip to Støtt brygge where you will get a great meal and history from the area.

Bolga pier is also a place that can offer a good meal and something in the glass.

But most culinary experiences can be harvested from the nature in the area, whether it is fish, shells or berries.

The harbor is a 2-minute walk away and the grocery store is 5 minutes by car.
