We are a family-run homestay located in Sujata Village (also called Bakraur Village), which is right across the river from Bodhgaya town and a short walk to Mahabodhi Temple (where Buddha attained enlightenment).

We have a spacious three-story house with a large rooftop area where you can enjoy views of Mahabodhi Temple, Bodh Gaya town, and Sujata / Bakraur Village.

This listing is for a private room with private bathroom which can sleep 1-2 people.

The space
Our home is located in Sujata Village (also known as Bakraur Village), a quiet village just across the river from Mahabodhi Temple (which features the Bodhi Tree under which Buddha attained enlightenment).

We have a spacious open-air rooftop where guests are welcome to hang out, eat fresh homemade meals, and enjoy the views of Mahabodhi Temple, Bodh Gaya town, and Sujata / Bakraur Village.

All of our bathrooms have hot water 24 hours a day. We also offer clean drinking water (water is both filtered and boiled) and free wifi.

Please note this is a homestay, so you would be living with our family in your own private room with private bathroom.

Our home is located in Sujata / Bakraur Village in the state of Bihar.

Bodh Gaya and Sujata / Bakraur Village is one of the four sacred places of Buddhism.

Sujata / Bakraur Village is the place where Sujata lived, the woman that fed Gautama Siddhartha with milk and rice shortly before he attained enlightenment. A stupa dedicated to Sujata has been erected in our village.

When Sujata fed the Buddha, he was about to die of starvation after the six years of meditation he spent into the Mahakala cave. The cave is 20 kilometers from Ansari House and possible to visit.

Siddhartha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree in Bodh Gaya. There is now a temple which you can visit for free (Mahabodhi Temple).

Those three sites are the main ones to see because they are involved in the story of Buddha but there are also many other temples to visit in Bodh Gaya.

After my wife, Guri, and I married, we decided to move back to Sujata village to settle down and raise our family.

We have now lived in Sujata village for over 20 years. During this time, we have adopted 18 orphans which we raise alongside our four biological children.

We are a very warm and welcoming family, but would respect your desire to have as much or as little interaction with us as you'd like.

As a native of Sujata Village who has lived here for over 25 years, I would be happy to tell you about the area and advise you on sights to see once you arrive.

You are also welcome to order food from our kitchen, where everything is fresh and made-to-order. All of our vegetables come from our garden and the other ingredients we use are fresh from the local market.
