"Casa Retreat”, at the far end of a one-mile child-friendly crescent beach in the quiet settlement of Casuarina Point. Walk the white sands to the sunrise, kayak with the sea turtles, or cast a fly for the elusive bonefish.

Located 15 miles south of the airport in Marsh Harbour (MHH) Great Abaco, Bahamas.

Mini-van available for your use as needed for $75/day. Drop off/pickup of van at airport for $25 each way.

The space
You will be the only guests. Upstairs has a kitchen, dining area, living area and master bedroom. Picture windows with full vista of private beach open directly to a full porch, a patio with picnic table, and a beach hut near the water.

Laundry shed has a washing machine and dryer. But clothes hung on the line dry instantly in the Bahamian breeze!

Where you’ll be

Marsh Harbour , Central Abaco, Bahamas

Just 60 steps to crystal clear Bahamian waters, Casa Casuarina Retreat is the last house on the western edge of this small beach community. Kayak with the sea turtles and watch the sunrise from our beach hut. To the west (and out of sight) is an abandoned fishing lodge where wild peacocks still roam.

Cherokee Sound is shallow and protected by sand bars and out islands. A safe, shallow beach. A favorite spot for bone fishing.

Jack and I live in Maine and have walked to work for years. He to his architectural studio, where he now paints and does sculpture. A bit further along the path is Spindlewood Waldorf Kindergarten, where Susan taught for 28 years. It is still a Waldorf preschool and is now welcoming families and friends as an Airbnb during the summer.

Our second and third generation live next door.

One of the best things we ever did was walk the Portugese Camino de Santiago de Compostella. We are inspired by the hospitaleros.

During your stay

My home is in Maine and I am available by text. Our on-site host Marsha is on-call as needed.

Jason can pickup and drop off a van at the airport, ($25 each way) available by the day, at $65/day. Van must be reserved in advance.
