Enchanted Forest Farm is an 18-acre forest farmstay, located in Parbing(Ranka), a scenic village near Gangtok, Sikkim. It is a quiet getaway for those offbeat travellers and wanderers. It is a fully running farm with accommodation for guests. Guests are welcomed into the farm by the singing of birds and the sound of the enchanting waterfall nearby and of course – an invigorating fresh mountain air. An ideal place to unwind away from the madding crowd and the hustle bustle.

The space
Our cottage is made in such a way so as to provide our guests with the utmost comfort and relaxation. The accommodation is dispersed so that guests can have privacy as well as roam freely and be quite alone. The cottage is a double occupancy luxury cottage with an attached bath and a porch and has all the basic amenities. We have used traditional building methods in making this cottage. The bathroom has hot and cold running water. There are no TV sets in the farm as we want to provide our guests with a true farm feel so that they can connect with Mother Nature during their stay. Nevertheless, we do provide free Wi-Fi so that guests can stay connected with their family and friends. We have placed travel books and magazines featuring Sikkim so that they can gain more knowledge about this beautiful state. The room provides panoramic views of the lush green forest. Almost 70% of the raw materials used in the cottage have been procured locally from the farm. At Enchanted Forest Farm, we treat each guest as our own family member and look into their specific needs.
Overall, at Enchanted Forest Farm, an invigorating smell of fresh mountain air coupled with enchanting views and serene environment offer a welcome change from the chaotic pace of the cities.

Activities at the farm:
Since the farm is spread over 18 acres, one can do a variety of things. Such a big forested area is all for you to enjoy. Foxes, barking deer, flying squirrels, and marten have made our forest farm a natural habitat. There is a possibility of spotting them at times.

Organic Farming:
Guests can get involved in farming and learn the processes involved in growing food organically. There is nothing like harvesting naturally grown veggies and fruits.

Village walk and nature walk: (Guide charges applicable)
You can go hiking to a stream near the property. The stream is fed by some beautiful waterfalls that will leave you amazed. You can take a dip in enchanting natural pools and relax. There are many hiking areas around the farm. You can also go on a village walk and get to know the local culture. By doing so, you get to experience the rich and diverse vegetation of Sikkim through these walks.

Picnic by the stream and waterfall: (Charges applicable and on prior request)
We are fortunate to have a stream running just by the end of the property that is fed by a beautiful waterfall. It is here that we arrange for a picnic for the guests where lunch is made in a wood fire and served next to the stream.

Birdwatching:(Guide charges applicable)
Our farm is a haven for birdwatchers. The farm is blessed with a beautiful avian population such as Magpie, Red-vented Bulbul, Himalayan Buzzard, flycatcher, etc. You can spot them in their natural habitat and undisturbed right from the cottage. Bird-watching tours can be arranged upon prior request.

BBQ and bonfire:(Extra charges)
We can also arrange for BBQ and bonfire. Sit near the bonfire, sing, eat and enjoy and as you look up, you see stars gazing at you beautifully. You can fulfill your stargazing dream with breathtaking views of the night sky with the bonfire, esp., in winters.

If adventure is your thing, paragliding spot is just a stone’s throw away. Or you can simply grab a book and relax in the hammock watching the clouds roll over you.

*Airport pickup/drop and any sightseeing can be provided at an extra cost. Please let us know well in advance about your travel plans in case you need transport service. Getting a vehicle during peak season can be quite a task.

Weather details:
The weather is usually pleasant - warm and sunny most of the time. There is a possibility of on and off rains throughout the year, barring winters. Monsoons, however, start from the end of June and last until September. It will usually be wet during this period. If you plan to visit during these times, make sure you carry some waterproof clothing. Umbrellas can be provided during your stay. Winters will be cold(December- February). Please carry warm clothing if you plan the trip during these times. We do provide hot water bags and a hot air blower to keep yourself nice and warm at night.
It will help if you can wear comfortable shoes as roads in and around the farm can be a bit rough and at times, slippery.

Location Details:
The farm is a 30-40 min drive from Gangtok. As you near the farm, you will see many terraced rice fields, tiny hamlets, lush green forests and a panoramic view of Gangtok. The village is less populated with fewer shops. The locals here are very friendly and eager to help. There are lots of places to hike and trek which makes this place worth a visit.

Paragliding spot is a stone's throw away from the farm. Sikkim's famous Ranka Monastery is a mere 4 km away.
From the farm, one can see a panoramic view of Gangtok town and towards the evening, the view gets even better with the town all lit up.

My name is Deep and I run this beautiful farm with my wife Priya and we love being here.
I worked for a corporate firm in Bangalore for quite some time while my wife ran a small takeaway restaurant. However, we were not quite satisfied with our lifestyle and the longing to go back to our roots(mountains) was so immense, that we quit the city life and the luxuries and creature comfort that it offers and decided to reside in the countryside of Sikkim where we had a farm. In short, we wanted to live more sustainably amidst nature. Growing our own food was also equally important.
I think this was the biggest decision that we took in our life and we don't regret it at all even though we face many challenges due to the tough terrain that we live in.

Slowly and steadily, we built our farm and started hosting guests. The experience has been phenomenal.
Here, even in this remote part of the world, we get people from across the globe who make our farm their home for the duration of their stay and go back as family and friends.
We both love meeting new people and sharing our stories as life is all about stories and conversations.

When I am free I love playing my guitars, listening to Rock, Blues, Metal, Grunge, etc. I try my hands on carpentry as well but I am still learning. I also love gardening(veggie and flowers), enjoy hiking, etc. My wife loves to try new dishes, she bakes as well and makes soaps and chocolates sometimes.
