Over 100 years old stockhouse in a little village in the archipelago of Maxmo in Vöyri. The atmosphere is calm and quiet in the village. The place is 10 km from the local center and 40 km from the city center of Vaasa, the capital of the Pohjanmaa/Österbotten county. The region is about 50:50 bilingual finnish-swedish speaking, but the archipelago is nearly 100 % Swedish speaking. Many people speak both languages. English is a common foreign language. You get by with english very well.

The space
The house can be used even by elderly people, but it is not very good for physically handicapped.

Where you’ll be

Vörå, Finland

There are only 10 houses by the road, Gistskatavägen, that leads to the end of a little peninsula of Gistskatan. Some of the closest naighbours live there regularily arrownd the year. Some of the houses are used as free time houses, like ours. Two of them are not used at the moment.

We are ”empty nestlers” in our 60’s.
Matti is an ex. medicinist and chief of service for seniors in the city of Vaasa.
Marja-Sisko is an ex. executive manager of a computer resource center for handicapped and dyslecsic people. Now both of us are retired. We have time to do something else, that us both reasonnable, interesting and fun, :).

When we travel out, it is nice to see beautifull places, monuments and museums, enjoy of arts, culture and local food. But we love to meet people, when we are in other countries . We also like to recieve people and host them. People, who visit us are like ”open windows to the outside world” for us. To travel ourselves and to recieve people is a kind of hobby, that makes travelling 3D.

We willingly meet you to help you to start your stay and to get by with all the small ”tricks” in the old house. We also help you to find places to visit and if you like to take out to the sea and to the hiking routes.
