A large, quality & authentic log cabin built in 1934 on the edge of Cook Forest in Jefferson County, PA. Situated in 9 acres of private woodland providing privacy yet located close to vacation amenities such as restaurants, stores, cycling, hiking trails, kayaking & tubing on the Clarion River, pony trekking, go-karting, fishing, hunting & more.

Featuring a living room, dining room, kitchen, 3 bedrooms, two 3/4 bathrooms, sleeping loft, hot tub, patio with grill, deck, porch & fire-pit area.

The space
Stanroph Cabin is a traditional and authentic log cabin built in 1934 from chestnut logs and 'chinking' as per the style synonymous with the Cook Forest area. The original front door is via a covered wooden porch which features a swing, tables & chairs and leads directly into the living room.

From the living room there is a hallway leading to the master bedroom and middle bathroom. The 2nd guest bedroom is accessed from the living room together with the 2-part sleeping loft via an open wooden staircase. A second hallway, that used to be the original kitchen, is now a utility area with closets, sink and cupboards - this leads into the current kitchen.

The kitchen comprises of a table and chairs with a beautiful view into the forest and features various appliances including stove/oven, dish washer, washing machine, dryer, fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee machine, toaster oven, toaster & hot water kettle. There is a pantry, double sink and ample worktop space. The cupboards and drawers contain cooking pots, plates, bowls, glasses and cutlery. Towards the end of the kitchen is a modern water filtration system providing great tasting, clean, natural well water.

At the back of the kitchen is the rear bathroom which also contains a closet housing the well pump switch & water heater.

In 1977 the cabin was extended using stone rather than logs to add a dining room, 1st guest room, and covered patio to the property. The patio includes a hot tub and natural gas grill with large (24' x 12') adjoining deck. The side entrance is located off the patio and accesses into the dining room.

Although the cabin is primarily for vacation purposes there are tables in both the dining room and kitchen which provide ample space for using a laptop with good lighting and numerous electrical sockets in close vicinity.

Note: Both bathrooms comprise of a toilet, sink and shower.

Enjoy various wildlife close by the cabin and on the grounds including a variety of birds, white-tail deer in the early morning or evening, possums, squirrels, chipmunks, and wild turkey depending on the time of year.

Cook Forest State Park is a popular vacation area located in the Pennsylvania Wilds (Northwest PA) attracting people from across PA as well as neighboring States.

The main vacation time is between Memorial Day and Labor Day which is when the majority of local amenities are open.

The area is also popular at other times of the year such as holiday weekends (Spring Break, Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Year) and during the various hunting and fishing seasons.

Winter time is also a great time to escape the city and snuggle up in a log cabin in front of a roaring fire so we take bookings all year round.
