Kazhagam is a 5 minute walk from Bharathapuzha river. It is 4 km from the famous Kerala Kalamandalam, the seat of arts and culture of Kerala. It is a great place to soak up some of India's oldest art forms and, if you are lucky, even enjoy performances by renowned artists.
Guruvayoor temple, one of South India's holiest sites, is about 45 km from Kazhagam (about an hour's drive). Other attractions nearby include the Nelliampathy hill range with exotic scenery located about 70 km away and the Malampuzha dam, which is about 60 km away.
