The space
We are Sherpas originally from the Mt. Everest region and have been running a small but reputed trekking and travel agency since the last 4 decades (a woman run company). We understand the value of goodwill through trusted service, and place utmost importance on safety and hygiene. Based on these core values my family has opened up our home to guests who would like to experience homestay at an affordable price, while being right at the centre of the city. We have a 2 Bedroom clean Guest Suite/Apartment in our compound, with separate entrance, private bathroom, separate kitchen, private sunny terrace, sunny green garden. We are located centrally in Nagpokhari, behind the Royal Palace Museum, 15 minutes walk to the heart of the city-Thamel and Durbar Marg, restaurants, souvenir shops. We have great asian restaurants and cafe right outside our gully. We also have a very good grocery/convenience store at a 5 minutes walking distance. The apartment is right above our family run trekking and travel office, an added bonus to help you with your 24 hour travel questions and needs. We are constantly listening and improving and we appreciate our guests' feedback and reviews. After some constructive feedback/review, we have upgraded our internet, included a hot water geyser in addition to solar hot water. We have a space heater available if anyone needs it and can provide anything you may need. Please absolutely feel free to let us know what you may need. We will be your home away from home.

Let me start by saying taxi rates in Kathmandu are ridiculously expensive and the traffic can easily drive one crazy. Public transportation is not tourist friendly at all. Hence most tourists stay in the city hotels.

My house is conveniently located near Thamel and durbar marg (Palace way), the centre of Kathmandu city. It's a 15 minutes walking distance. Otherwise you can take a quick cab outside the gully. What i love most is that my house is tucked inside a quiet dirt road/gully in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city. So you can hardly hear the traffic noise but still be minutes from the city.

I am a tourism professional currently working in Boston, USA. I come from a Sherpa family who has been running trekking and travel business since the 1980s in Nepal and South Asia region. We love travel, trekking, hosting and meeting new people. My mother has earned the name and good will in the industry because of her personal touch and care she provides to her guests. I am sub letting a 2 Bed Room apartment with a kitchen and an attached bathroom, which is in a separate building in my family compound, so there is privacy, separate entrance and quiet. You will be in good trusted hands while in Kathmandu, with access to 24 hours trekking and travel service and my mother who is Nepal's talking Wikipedia.

My mother is a walking talking encyclopedia of nepal and nepalese tourism and runs a trekking agency of her own. We love to travel, trek, host, talk and make new friends.
