The space
The cottage is private, standing in its own quiet garden with fruit trees, long valley view and stream access. Be prepared for a gentle country experience, take the opportunity to sit on the deck at night, with the lights off, and enjoy the wonderful clear night sky without the light pollution of the city. For an hour or two after dark, have a wine and count how many satellite you can see cross the night sky. The cottage will suit a couple wanting a private retreat (listed base price of $150), a family with babies to grandparents (under 3years free), or two or three couples going to an event or show at The Mission Vineyards (3 Night & 4 Guest min). A ramp provides access to strollers, walking aids or wheelchairs, (in addition to two stairways to decks front and back), and one of the two bathrooms caters for mobility difficulties. This is a place is equipped to be self sufficient but under 10mins drive on same road (Middle Road) as the good restaurants and cafes of Havelock North Village.

From lengthy occupants and enthusiasts of Wellington, we chose the Hawkes Bay to establish a productive small farm, enjoy the countryside and the long summers, further interest in conservation of native plantlife and birds, art, driving country roads and enjoying the company of like minded people over excellent wine and food of the area.
When we travel we like to spend time in an area and absorb the sounds, sights and customs and meet the local people. We have tended to look for a private retreat in which to relax with friends or family and from which to explore.
So this is the nature of our own cottage, respecting privacy for regenerating energy and welcoming social contact and sharing experiences.

During your stay

I like to meet and welcome guests with the key and answer questions or give directions on where to find information. Phone calls by cellphone are welcome (or email) especially if arrival needs to be outside the hours of 4pm to 10pm. We respect the privacy of your space but may sometimes invite guests (especially longer stay guests) to share a glass of wine or beer and local snacks on the farmhouse deck on a sunny evening. We are available 40metres through the trees and love to chat about your home and travels if you are free.
