Our 3 bed/2 full bath+loft house sits in the woods surrounding a beautiful freshwater lake in a neighborhood on the stunning Potomac River! Come enjoy the nearby attractions or simply do nothing at all! We have kayaks/boats for your use right off the private dock. The community has 3 beaches: a private sandy lake beach with swimming dock, a river-front sandy beach with 15-million old+ shark teeth, and a fossil cliff beach. Fishing! Seasonal hot tub on patio! Bald eagle sightings! Theater Room!

The space
This place is so special that we vacationed here for 2 days and then became homeowners within 6 months!

Our 3 bedroom plus loft home with 2 full baths has all been recently updated, with a completely remodeled kitchen and bathroom. The master bedroom has a queen bed and an attached full bathroom. The second room has a queen bed, and the third room is our bunk room with two sets of bunk beds! In addition, we also have a sleeping loft that has 2 comfortable futon couches. (Note: 5'8" overhead clearance in the loft, with steep stairs leading to it; kids love it!) We have a pack n play and a high chair if needed. Just added a cozy basement theater room! Blackout blinds and curtains so you can have movie night any time of the day!

The house has its own private dock on the 110-acre warm and clean freshwater lake. Swim or paddle to your heart's content. We have a canoe, a double kayak, two single kayaks, a kids kayak, and a kid and an adult paddle board for use right off our dock! We provide many different sizes of life jackets- from infant-adult. Paddle out and have a flotilla with your loved ones. The water is warm enough for swimming April through October, paddling year round. Shower off in our outdoor shower!

[Warning to guests with mobility concerns: the path down from the house to the dock drops about 25' in elevation. It is a dirt and gravel path with steps carved into the hill using landscape timbers. It is not wheelchair accessible and can be challenging for those less steady on their feet.]

The lake house is also an inviting winter retreat! The hot tub on the back patio overlooks the lake and is hot while it's cold outside (hot tub is seasonally operated from September-May). The wood-burning fireplace in the living room is a perfect spot to relax on blustery days.

A great getaway for the whole family! A campfire ring, tetherball, and hammocks outside. Foosball, games, ping pong table and books inside. The theater room has Roku for Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Disney+ and ESPN+. Our dining room table seats 10 ! It is such a joy to sit with everyone and enjoy a crab feast!

Sitting among the forest with up close views of the leafy tree tops, our house is so quiet and peaceful. You can sit on the deck or dock with your drink and take it all in. Listen to the woodpeckers and the wind in the trees while watching bald eagles and osprey soar above you.

Great community amenities as well! Three beaches are suitable for swimming or fossil hunting. We have crab pots and hand lines if you want to try your hand at catching your own dinner. Or we know all the locals' numbers if you want to buy them already cooked and seasoned perfectly!

Montross, Virginia, United States

This community is the best-kept secret of the Northern Neck! Our neighborhood is lovely, surrounding the private lake and situated on the banks of the stunning Potomac river, which is roughly 5 miles across at this point. We must warn you--everyone waves as you drive by and you have to wave back!

Our closest neighbor to the neighborhood is Stratford Hall, 2 miles away, which offers dining, hiking and gardens. Westmoreland State Park, 4 miles away, is a must-see stop while here with trails, fossil beach, and visitors center! $5 per car entrance fee.

The historic town of Montross is less than 15 minutes away, which offers several good restaurants, farm-fresh produce stands, ice cream, as well as a grocery store and essentials and local country happenings. Great coffee shop and brewery, cute shops and antiques.

Slightly further afield is George Washington's birthplace, with historic tours and working farm. Other nearby attractions include Westmoreland Berry Farm, several wineries and breweries, antique shops for treasure hunters, Colonial Beach.
