The cabin is situated on cypress wetlands. The view from the windows is like waking up in the Emerald Forest. The king sized bed is very comfortable and the large tub is beautiful and absolutely luxurious! Perfect for long bubble baths or epsom salt bath soaks for detoxing and soaking away aches. The cabin is beautiful and is ideal for nature lovers, artists, writers, or anyone needing a relaxing get away.

The space
The Swamp Cabin is a beautiful cozy cabin. Big windows overlook a beautiful cypress swamp. Lounge in a large claw foot tub while enjoying the view. Or enjoy the rocking chairs on the screened porch overlooking the swamp. The bathroom has a two seat shower. Fenced and gated at the street. Convenience and privacy - the best of both worlds! The cypress swamp separates this property from the Oconee River which is visible through the swamp at times.
I designed this cabin for three purposes: 1. I was planning to give macrobiotic cooking lessons there. 2. I also planned to do massage therapy there. 3. We also, originally, planned to use it as a personal weekend get away simply to relax and cook out, and get together with family and friends.
As I had in mind having cooking classes there, I had the gas stove top in the counter so that people could belly up to the counter and watch their food being cooked; therefore, I cook facing the room and the beautiful view of the swamp.
The porcelain terra-cotta tile on the floors coordinates with the tile on the counter tops. The walls and ceiling are natural wood. No sheetrock!
I had a "swamp spa" in mind when I added a large claw foot tub installed right in the big room. It is only one room except for the bathroom and a large closet. There is a kingsize bed, a sofa and upholstered chair, a large claw foot tub, a kitchen, and a TV/DVD player in the one, very spacious room. It also has internet.
It is approximately three miles from Buzzy's a convenience store that sells gas as well as a hot buffet style breakfast and lunch on most days.
It is also approximately seven miles from Benton Lee's Steakhouse on the Altamaha River. A number of celebrities have visited the restaurant and they frequently have tour busses come bringing tourists from Savannah, etc.
The neighborhood is rural. The roads are paved. The neighbors are friendly and usually quiet. The public boat ramp is right down the road. The property is next to wooded lots that I also purchased to ensure privacy.
There is a concrete slab where a cookhouse once stood. It now has a fire pit and there is a gas grill on the screened porch.

I am a retired Licensed Massage Therapist. I currently live in Vidalia and enjoy playing at the river and the swamp cabin. I love paddling on the river in canoes, kayaks, and SUP boards. I was born in South Georgia, grew up in Orlando, Florida, spent eight years in Jacksonville, Florida, before moving to Vidalia, Georgia where I now reside.
If someone asked me what are the five things I could not live without, they would have to be:
1. Air
2. Water
3. Food
4. Shelter (but only in severe weather).
5. Nature
What feeds my Spirit and restores my Soul are being in nature, especially at the ocean, a river, a lake, or even a nice pool in the beautiful outdoors. Hiking a mountain trail with streams and small waterfalls is extremely energizing and joyful to me. I find my energy being quickly depleted when I have to stay indoors. That is the reason I designed both my cabins with large windows to always give me feeling of being outside in beautiful nature settings. Being with animals has a wonderful, soothing effect on me. I usually keep my dog, Happy with me whenever possible.
I love food cooked outdoors better than in the kitchen. I particularly enjoy food cooked on sandbars in dutch ovens over hot coals! In my opinion, everything is better outdoors when the weather permits.
My style of airbnb hosting is to meet the guest at the cabin, spend some time showing them around, etc., then leave them to enjoy themselves and being as close as a phone call in case they need something or have questions.
My life motto is to live in the moment and appreciate my precious life in the short time I have to enjoy this amazing, beautiful world, and to try to bring good, positive, loving energy whenever I am with people.

During your stay

I live 25 miles away in Vidalia but am just a phone call away. Anything you need just call. I usually leave after greeting my guests assuming they just want the place to themselves to relax. But will be there if needed.
