Nestled in a very private location with the most dreamy, huge screened in porch overlooking the lake and its own dock, this sweet one bedroom vertical log cabin features an open concept kitchen and living space, newly remodelled bedroom and newly renovated bathroom with shower. It also has a full kitchen for cooking as well as a barbecue with complimentary propane.

The space
The Spruce Cabin (lovingly referred to as the "honeymoon cabin") is part of Northern Skies Resort, a cottage resort with eight lakeside cabins that has been part of our family for over 80 years and is now owned and operated by the fourth generation owner.

Cell coverage is very strong at the cabin and a Turbo Hub can be rented for wifi (one hub is available on a first come first service basis so availability cannot be guaranteed). However it's also the perfect place to disconnect completely and enjoy the peace and serenity!

At night, star gazing is unparalleled and the northern lights can sometimes be seen. The property, lake and surrounding area have plenty of opportunities for canoeing and kayaking (we provide kayaks and canoes for free), boating (we rent boats and motors), fishing, hiking and scenic drives. There is also a campfire area and sandy beach that is available for the use of all guests.

The cabin is located in Algoma Country's famous Mississaugi Valley, named after the wild and winding river that provides a stunning scenic drive at any time of year that starts just "up the road" - we highly recommend packing a picnic and taking a day to explore this beautiful route.

This part of the province - which is Anishinaabe territory - is remote and rugged, meaning it is free of the crowds common in cottage country and provincial parks. You will have unlimited privacy on your adventures.

The cabin is also a short drive away from quaint towns, First Nations, hamlets and farming communities that are full of talented craftspeople, artists and artisans whose skills have been passed down through generations. They have all the necessities you would need in terms of groceries and basic provisions.

Day trips from the resort will bring you to quaint towns, friendly farming communities and welcoming First Nations full of talented craftspeople, makers and artisans as well as farmers markets, restaurants, cafes and breweries serving locally grown and produced food and drink.

Hi I'm Robin!

I was raised in the wilds of Algoma and look forward to sharing my knowledge of this beautiful region with you.

As of summer 2021 my husband, our two young kids and I have taken over Northern Skies Resort (formerly Kegos Camp) from my parents - I'm the fourth generation of our family to manage this property!

We have been hosting people at the Northern Skies Backcountry Cabin since 2010 and love the opportunity to expose visitors to the peace and serenity of this amazing part of the province.

In addition to running Northern Skies Resort, I am the Founder of a local arts non profit, and currently work as an Executive Director in the charitable sector. I am also a farmer, community artist and social entrepreneur and am passionate about the intersection of the arts, community development and social justice.

I am an avid traveler and have lived in Toronto, Scotland and England.

I love to canoe, camp, read, travel, cook good food, think interesting thoughts and learn from interesting people.
