Bill is a 3rd generation innkeeper, growing up in his family’s roadside Best Western in Worthington, MN and learning the ropes at his grandfather’s motels in LaMars, Sidney, Denison and Sheldon, IA. He checked in his first guest when he was 12. Bill learned the business at his father’s and grandfather’s knee, and along with his sister, purchased the Best Western from his father in 1996. They sold it in 2000, and Bill worked a variety of construction jobs until purchasing The Oakwood Inn with his wife, Bridget.
Bridget is originally from Wells, MN. She has worked in the hospitality industry for the past 18-1/2 years, getting her start at the Best Western Fergus Falls, Fergus Falls, MN. Her hospitality career has taken her to Rochester, MN where she worked at the Holiday Inn City Center, Rochester Marriott and The Kahler Grand Hotel before moving to Steamboat Springs, CO. There she worked for Starwood Hotels at the Sheraton Steamboat Resort and met Bill. They returned to the Midwest to get married at their favorite destination – Okoboji.
After several more years in Steamboat Springs, the couple moved to Glenwood Springs, CO, where Bridget was part of the executive committee opening The Westin Snowmass Resort outside Aspen, CO. Her most recent assignment for Starwood Hotels was in Houston, TX, working for The Westin Galleria & Westin Oaks hotels.
Bill and Bridget realized a shared life-long dream in April, 2016, when they purchased The Oakwood Inn.
