Nestled within a secluded garden, this idyllic "tiny home" offers a cosy and unique stay in a tranquil Pembrokeshire Cabin with a quirky annex shower at a riverside location.

Of unknown origins, we like to imagine that this tiny stone-built and timber-clad cabin in the sleepy hamlet of Black Tar, was once a smugglers hideout. It now offers a couple an idyllic riverside retreat away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

The space
All profit taken on this property in 2022 will be donated to funds in support of rebuilding Ukraine.

A perfect example of ‘tiny house living’, the Riverside Cabin is cosy yet comfortable, with everything a couple needs for a lively weekend of watersports, or for a perfect romantic getaway...a hot shower, comfortable bed, a cosy fire and a great space outdoors for enjoying the waterside location without getting your toes wet, as well as access that leads directly to the water’s edge for watersports enthusiasts.

The recently renovated space is quirky, charming and romantic. The cosy dining, lounge and kitchenette area benefits from a log-burner to help keep you cosy on those cooler nights, whilst the well-equipped kitchenette (with a gas hob, microwave oven and fridge) provides everything you need to create a romantic meal for two. There is an upstairs sleeping loft, with luxurious bedding on a king size bed, and a quirky hot shower and toilet downstairs.

Please note, the upstairs sleeping loft is accessed via a set of steep ladder-like steps (see photos). If you are unable to ascend or descend such steps, please get in touch, and we can assist in finding a more suitable property for you.

To aid in escaping modern life's ties, wifi in the property is limited and can only be accessed from the garden (although 4G is available on some networks - EE and Three).

Where you’ll be

From the cabin you can follow the meandering path along the water's edge or ramble into the Pembrokeshire countryside. Or why not hike out to the local pub, The Cottage Inn, (a 15 minute stroll) renowned for it’s friendly atmosphere and good food.

If you can tear yourself away from the water for a day, there is an abundance of activities an easy drive from us.

Wales' best surfing beaches are just 30 minutes North and South of here, whilst the easy water access means dingy sailing, windsurfing and rowing are all on your doorstep, if you have your own equipment or have organised hire for your stay.

I love travelling and was lucky enough to back pack around the world in my younger years. Now I'm trying to give something back as a host, I try to meet all of our guests and share the local knowledge which is always so useful wherever you go. Our properties are as well equipped as we can manage (within reason and budget!) and I will always try and resolve any issues or omissions as soon as I can.

I have a rather large pooch, she's a Bouvier des Flandres called Luna (not a labradoodle, cockerpoo!) and weighs in at a mighty 45kg, she is often alongside me at my meet and greets!

I love good food, we moved back to the area (having grown up here and leaving to go to uni) in 2016 and we are trying to carve a little niche for ourselves here, based on sustainability and self sufficiency, so we are rearing our own free range pigs, chickens and if I can persuade my husband goats and sheep too! We also have an aquaponics unit for fresh fish and salads and I frequently come up with other hair brained ideas, mostly based around good eating!

My favourite place to travel is anywhere with open countryside, with clean fresh air and spectacular views, long hikes are a must or alternatively a not too scary bike ride, usually with a rewarding and tasty meal at the other end!
