A newly renovated machiya town house with typical layout and a small garden, retaining the tradition of Naramachi - the old merchant town of Nara. Easy access via bus and train, supermarket, restaurants, convenience store, bakery, and a Japanese bath house just minutes away.
This house belonged to a famous wood carver of "ittobori" - a traditional Nara technique of carving the wood. A projector and a record player will make your stay even more pleasant. Enjoy!

The space
A two storey, 90m2 traditional merchant’s house in the old part of Nara. Consists of a large entrance, living room, kitchen with dining area and two bedrooms with tatami floors. Antique furniture, decorations and a small but elegant garden help create a nostalgic atmosphere. The record player and a collection of retro vinyl records will help you immerse in Japan of the old days. Modern facilities will make your time in the house more pleasant. Enjoy your stay!

The are where the house is located is full of the local charm of Japan of the old days. There are 5 bath houses within walking distance, many little shrines, traditional houses, small restaurants, tiny bars and the wonderful, warm, smiling local people! Make some time in your busy travel plans for just exploring the local area - we are sure you will not regret it!
Located on the edge of Naramachi old town, the house is in a charming residential area with small local restaurants, a 24h convenience store, a bakery and a big supermarket open until 11pm! There is a great onsen (Japanese mineral bath) just 3 minutes away. The small museums, Nara park and temples are within walkable distance.
