One bedroom apartment (36 m^2). It is light and clean, and gives of a modern vibe. View of Akerselva. For a city apartment it is quiet, facing towards a private backyard. Walking distance to most locations of interest. Easy access to public transportation (tram, bus, subway) and city bikes/scooters. There is an amazing roof terrace. Here you have a view of large parts of Oslo (you can see all the surrounding hills).

The space
Perfect for two individuals, and quite nice for three.

Where you’ll be

Oslo, Norway

This is the sinus node of Oslo.

As your host I advise you to explore the surrounding streets (Torggata, Markveien and Thorvald Meyers gate). Here you will find great restaurants, pubs and unique shops.

It is also worth exploring Akerselva (a river running right outside - it goes through Oslo and ends between the Opera house and the new Munch museum). If you follow it upstream you will see lots of street art, old factories, a food center, and after something like an hour you will reach the Norwegian Museum for Science and Technology.

Another treat is the Botanical garden. It's a close neighbour, and contains several thousand species of plants. You will find two awesome greenhouses (at least one of them is from the 1800s) that mimics tropical and desert climate (it is lovely, especially on cold days). This is free to the public (oh yeah!). One of the greenhouses have free roaming butterflies and a small pond with fish of various sizes.

Go to Heimat for breakfast or lunch (very scandinavian place. excellent food. not crazy expensive, high quality, 3 min walking) and for coffee go to Kaffebrenneriet (6 min walking, the second best coffee you can get in Oslo. The absolute best is Tim Wendelboe (if you love coffee, and don't mind paying 50/60.- for a cup, this is the place to
visit, some 10 min walking. Their espresso is superb)).

"Bad areas": I use quotation because this is Norway - it is very safe. Still, there are some areas I would avoid after dark. This would apply to the subway station (Grønland), some 800 meters downstream from the apartment (cause of drug dealers), and also Storgata (cause of junkies).

Moved from Lofoten to Oslo in 2005. Studied biology at the university of Oslo. Stayed after graduation. Now I work as a science teacher. Absolutely love the city, and in particular Grunerløkka and Akerselva. I am passionate about local history, waste handling, energy production, good coffee, technology and city development. Please ask me if you want tips for anything Oslo related (I'm rather up to date on what happens in Oslo).
