The EcoInn is a rustic mountain type lodge that can sleep up to 8 people (6 beds in 5 bedrooms). It is close to great views and family-friendly activities - mountain bike tracks, mountain walks, swimming holes, beach & New Plymouth attractions within 17 km. You’ll love the EcoInn because of the clean environment, outdoors space, floating bath, animals, lake, row boat and kayaks, gardens and walkways, 100% off-grid renewable energy, electric car, the ambience, peace & tranquillity.

The space
Our place is a renewable energy demonstration site. We have developed this property during the last 25 years and have never been connected to the grid. Our core business is the manufacture of renewable energy products (EcoInnovation Ltd) where we make and export hydro turbines and solar powered water pumps (PowerSpout brand) sold globally.
We do our best to be self-sufficient and sustainable and hence have gardens for our own food production. At times of plenty guests are free to take from the gardens - just ask Linda first.
We recently purchased an electric car and over the next 10 years hope to replace all our cars with electric as technology advancements allow.
For those interested in renewable energy, the property is powered by 23kW PV array, 1.5kW hydro turbines (when wet). We have a 9kW inverter that has peak AC load of 18kW and we use on average about 40-50kWhrs/day. Surplus power is used to charge the electric car, heat hot water in our home and the EcoInn building.

Hi,
I'm Michael married to Linda, we live in the country 18km from New Plymouth on a 10 acre slice of paradise - heaven when the sun shines. I am a self-employed engineer and own/operate a small manufacturing company.
Linda is a science teacher at a local high school in New Plymouth. We have two boys living and studying in Auckland. We have run the EcoInn and EcoBach for over 10 years and recently listed the Ecobach on AirBnB.
We only live 100m away from the EcoBach, so feel free to call over if you need help deciding what to do while visiting Taranaki.
