Welcome to a unique island getaway on Bruny Island! I have been renting out ‘Alkira’ as short term accommodation for eight years now and I am so delighted to share my 'home away from home' with you.

*bookings over December/January Xmas and New Years period are minimum 4 nights stays and will incur an additional cleaning fee*

The space
The spacious 2 bedroom holiday house 'Alkira' is situated in Lunawanna, Bruny Island. It is a short drive to Cloudy Bay, The Lighthouse and Bruny Island Winery which serves a lovely lunch. Other attractions include the Bruny Island Cheese Co, Bruny Island House of Whisky, The Chocolate Factory, Berry Farm, Get Shucked Oysters, and Bruny Island Tours. We are also close to the only pub on the island!
It is situated on the quiet part of the island with a beautiful beach within walking distance from the house. You can enjoy spectacular views of the Hartz Mountains and the D'entrecasteau channel every morning sitting out on the spacious front deck.
The house has two large bedrooms and a room off the second bedroom which has a bunk bed for extra guests/children. All linen and towels are provided, and the shack has a very 'home away from home' feel to it.
The kitchen is also fully equipped and there are even some cook books for inspiration. It has a wood heater in the living room which heats the whole house on those rare chilly nights. Outside there are BBQ facilities and an outdoor entertaining area which you can enjoy. Whether you want to stay a few days or a couple of weeks you can be assured that the shack has everything you need on holiday.
Even though I live in Hobart, guests are welcome to contact me anytime and there is also a book of brochures about Bruny Island for you look through; there is also a guidebook on Airbnb with all my recommendations. Please contact me if you would like any more information.
''Alkira'' means ''bight and sunny'' in aboriginal which I think is the perfect description for my warm and inviting Bruny Shack :)
