Just to avoid unpleasant misunderstandings, due to the new Airbnb law in Italy (art. 109 t.u.l.p.s) upon arrival I will have to scan/photocopy your ID documents or passports and you will have to sign a rental contract that I must communicate to the local authorities ‘Questura’ ‘Commissariato’ (the police keep a copy for their records, anti-terrorism anti-tax evasion ect..).

So, it’s not some sort of fraud or identity theft it’s just a very complicated law system that we have to respect. We are good Airbnb host and follow the rules.

If you don’t feel comfortable providing us with passport numbers, names and nationalities and a signature on the rental form I’m afraid I will have to cancel your booking as I risk a huge fine and be penalized with interdiction on the property.

The Italian law requires that in case of hospitality of a foreign citizen, his/her presence has to be declared to the local ‘Questura’ ‘Commissariato’ within 24h from the start of the stay.

The form requires to fill in some data about the guests (first and last name, date and place of birth, city of residency, passport number). Please note that failing to present the declaration in due time can lead up to 3 yrs in jail and a massive fine for the host.
