Where you’ll be

Sovicille, Italy

The agriturismo Casa al Gianni is surrounded by the characteristic natural vegetation of the aromatic plants of our land, and is located in the heart of the nature reserve of Montagnola Senese. Characterized by centuries-old chestnut and holm oak forests, sunflower-coloured fields and fragrant wild fennel and lavender crops.

Our farm is part of the ancient village of Simignano, a small town where time seems to have stopped. Walking through its alleys you will find the Romanesque church, the wood-burning oven, the square with the well and the old butcher shop. A dive into the past for those who want to experience lost emotions.

Already in the early Middle Ages the precious yellow marble of Siena was extracted from the quarries of Simignano, which for centuries has been the ornamental stone used to decorate and build the historical monumental buildings of the Sienese area, such as the Cathedral of Siena. The quarries can still be visited today. The ancient Cinta Senese pig breed, native to Montagnola Senese, was raised in its woods. For generations my family has traditionally devoted itself to this ancient breed of pigs while respecting its history and territory. There are over 100 pigs on our farm today.
