Cashew Nut Cottage is serene and beachy, with two double bedrooms, both with air conditioning and en suite bathrooms. The kitchen is well equipped, and opens out onto a spacious verandah, living space and swimming pool. The cottage is set in a large, tropical garden (full of the eponymous cashew nut trees) adjacent to the stunning Mida Creek and close to the white sands of Watamu beach.

The cottage makes an ideal remote-working location, as it is quiet, comfortable and has Wifi.

The space
The cottage shares the large garden with the larger main house, with shared access to the our cashew nut-shaped swimming pool and large patio area. A bougainvillea fence separates the cottage from the main house, so the cottage is still private.

The plot is set in a beautiful palm tree plantation, less than a two minute walk from Mida Creek, one of the most beautiful spots on the coast of Kenya, where you can swim, snorkel and paddle board, or just have drinks and watch the sun go down. The mangroves at the edge of the creek and the palm plantation are beautiful for morning and evening walks and runs - we can provide you with directions and our house staff can also show you the best routes and spots.

Watamu beach, just a 10 minute walk from the cottage, is one of the very best beaches in Kenya, with Caribbean-style powdery white sands and crystal blue waters. At low tide especially, it is breathtakingly beautiful.

All of our guests tell us that the cottage and surrounding area has an incredibly calming feel. The large breezy verandah is especially good for yoga and relaxing on. We have recently installed Wifi, making it an ideal remote-working destination too.

During your stay

As a family are not based in Watamu full time (currently between Nairobi and the UK), so although we visit our Watamu home often, we may not always be present for guest arrivals. However we are always contactable and have very helpful house staff on hand, who are resident at the house at all times.
