Welcome to Casa Grande,
This is our Master Bedroom, which got the "Master" title a long time ago, and in old times a few babies were born here!
It is a spacious and sunny room with an antique couple bed (195cmx145cm), a wardrobe and a chest of drawers that are empty and ready to be used. There is also the possibility to setup a folded bed for a child or a friend that comes to visit you.

The space
A Casa Grande is a big old house, located in the center of Vila do Bispo, with around 120 years that was uninhabited for the last 40. A few years ago some major structural intervention was done, all the electrical installation was replaced and the bathrooms renovated. But an old house is an old house so you might feel that the floor is shaking and making noises when you walk but you can feel safe ;)
The renovation project is still going on and if you choose to stay in our house for some time it's possible that you will notice some changes. We love living here and there are so many things that we still want to improve, however we feel that the space is cosy and ready to be shared. Having guests also has enabled us to keep with the renovation process and investing more in the house.

Where you’ll be

Vila do Bispo, Faro, Portugal

Vila do Bispo is quite a small town, so everything here is in a walking distance from our house: several restaurants and cafes, local market for fresh products, atm, post office, surf shops where it’s possible to rent a board or a suit and a place that rents bicycles.
The closest beaches are Castelejo and Cordoama, they are about 5km from Vila do Bispo, about 10min by car, or 1h walking.

If you come by car you can enjoy the freedom to explore all the different beaches from the south and the west coast (there are more than 10 different beaches in a radius of 10 km from our house)

If you come without a car you can enjoy the beautiful walking trails in the Natural Park of Costa Vicentina, that will take you through beautiful nature all the way to some impressive cliffs!

I am José, father, sculptor, skateboarder and nature lover. After spending most of my life in Lisbon, I had the opportunity to move to the Southwest coast of Portugal and live in a more natural, peaceful and relaxing place. Together with my partner Maria, we renovated "A Casa Grande", the house where my grandmother was born and now we welcome guests from all around the world to share our house and lifestyle.

During your stay

We love food! And we love sharing it with our guests, so if you stay with, we might invite you to join us for a vegetarian breakfast.

At this moment there are four people living permanently in the house (José, Maria, and our two little daughters Graça and Gloria), one big dog, a couple of tortoises and a few chickens.
Gladly we have frequent visits from our friends and volunteers to help us on the renovation of the house.
We are happy to meet new people and help you as much as we can, but we also respect your privacy as much as we like ours to be respected. So if you feel like relaxing and having some personal time that is fine too!
