The space
Built before the turn of the century, this fully-renovated historical landmark mansion located in the artistic Santa Teresa neighborhood offers a variety of rooms suited for the traveler seeking an authentic Carioca experience!


GREAT LOCATION
This colonial mansion is located close to the heart of the city and walking distance to bus lines and the Gloria metro station for convenient access to all the major tourist hotspots of Rio. Public transportation can be accessed nearly 24hrs a day.

Ipanema and Copacabana beaches are only 15 minutes away by taxi, and can be easily reached via public transportation as well. Lapa, the famous bohemian nightlife scene, is only a 15min walk away. Some of the most famous sights in Rio are only minutes away from the house - the art collector Raimundo Otoni Castro May's Chácara do Céu mansion, Parque das Ruinas, Lapa's nightlife, and Chilean-born artist Jorge Selarón's famous tiled steps.

Supermarkets, coffee shops and lounges are all located nearby as well as a healthy combination of fine dining and budget friendly restaurants. There is also a well-regarded farmer's market every Sunday at the bottom of the hill and offers some of the freshest fruits and vegetables in the city!

Santos Dumont Airport for domestic flights is only 10 min away by taxi, where there is a direct bus link to the Galeao International Airport.


FULLY EQUIPPED ROOM
This is private room where you will have the entire space to yourself and your guest(s).

The room offers a comfortable full-sized mattress fitted for two people that rests on a unique loft design. Beneath is a comfortable couch positioned perfectly for watching movies or television. The room provides a flat-screen 36-inch television equipped with NET-TV and DVD. There is also a strong WiFi signal throughout the house.

The room comes with a full bath, equipped with a jacuzzi-style bathtub that looks over a spectacular view of Guanabara Bay, downtown and the famous Sugar Loaf Mountain (Pao de Açucar). There is also a standing shower next to the bathtub, as well as a seated shower and sauna for two.

Inside the room there is a mini-fridge and microwave for easy storage and quick preparation of small meals or snacks. Guests also have complete access to a fully kitchen equipped with a gas stove and cooking utensils. A washing machine is located on the bottom floor and also available for use on-site.

I am an Englishman who has lived in Rio for 20 years now, and my two sons were born and raised here (they are now at university in England), and I work in the financial market. The Wonderful City of Rio has so much to offer as I have learned from my own experience, from the traditional Samba during Carnival to the less-known Parque das Ruinas in Santa Teresa (all close by the apartment). We never stop living and learning, and whatever you are planning on doing in Rio de Janeiro, you will continue on this path with an open mind in Rio, and add an important chapter to your personal travel memoire, just by absorbing a few of the experiences Rio has on offer. I have travelled most of the world, and still come alive to the sounds of the different rhythms, love the extraordinary food, and the warmth of the local "cariocas". I would say my favorite film so far this year is Intouchables. The apartments that I have to offer are fully equipped, well located, and I will personally make sure you enjoy your stay, without invading your space. I live close by, and can be reached almost any time of day or night.
