    Our Hosts are the heart and soul of Airbnb. Listening to you is central to our work, and it is your feedback that led us to update our Host protection programs and create AirCover—top-to-bottom protection, free for every Host, only on Airbnb.

    You’ve told us in listening sessions, during workshops, on the Community Center, and through the Host Advisory Board that you needed more protection: What if a guest smokes in your space, and you need special cleaning? What if a guest’s dog makes a snack of your sofa, and you need to repair it?

    You’ve also told us that the reimbursement process isn’t always straightforward, and it was stressful to get your reimbursement requests submitted before your next guest checked in.

    We heard you, and we’re happy to share AirCover. In addition to $1 million in liability protection, AirCover expands the $1 million in damage protection Hosts get, with new coverage for pet damage, deep cleaning, and more.

    $1 million damage protection

    If your place or belongings are ever damaged by a guest during an Airbnb stay, AirCover offers you $1 million in damage protection. We already covered you if a guest ruined your carpet with a glass of red wine, and now, with the expanded coverage, we’ve also got your back if a guest’s cat claws your curtains.

    The expanded coverage includes:

    • Pet damage protection: Not to worry—damage done by four-legged guests is covered
    • Deep cleaning protection: We compensate you for unexpected cleaning costs, like removing cigarette odor if a guest smokes in your home
    • Income loss protection: AirCover reimburses lost income if you cancel confirmed Airbnb bookings due to guest damage
    • 14-day filing window: If guests cause damage, you have 14 days to request reimbursement after they check out—it doesn’t even matter if new guests have already checked in
    • Quicker reimbursements: Hosts get faster payouts for guest damages (9 days on average)
    • Faster track for Superhosts: You now get priority routing and faster reimbursements

    If you need to request reimbursement, just start an AirCover request at our Resolution Center. Once you submit your request, we’ll notify your guest about what’s damaged or missing. Your guest then has 72 hours to pay the amount you’re requesting. If they decline to pay the full amount or don’t respond, you'll be able to involve Airbnb Support.

    $1 million Host liability insurance

    Liability insurance applies to Hosts in the rare event a guest gets hurt or their belongings are damaged or stolen while they’re staying at your place. People who help you host, like Co-Hosts and cleaners, are also included, so you can feel confident hosting on Airbnb.

    Host liability insurance covers you if you’re found legally responsible for:

    • Bodily injury to a guest (or others)
    • Damage to or theft of property belonging to a guest (or others)
    • Damage caused by a guest (or others) to common areas, like building lobbies and nearby properties

    If you need to file a claim, just go to our liability insurance intake form. The info will be sent to our trusted third-party insurer, who will assign your claim to a representative. They’ll resolve your claim according to the terms of the insurance policy.

    If you’re a Host of an Experience, you’re covered under our Experiences liability insurance.

    Host damage protection, Host liability insurance, and Experiences liability insurance don’t cover Hosts who offer stays through Airbnb Travel, LLC, or Hosts in mainland China and Japan, where the China Host Protection Plan, Japan Host Insurance, and Japan Experience Protection Insurance apply. Host damage protection isn’t related to Host liability insurance.
