Highlights

  • We’ve redesigned features on our site and app—our biggest update in a decade

  • In-person and Online Experiences now appear when guests use the search bar or location field

  • SEO and social media can be valuable tools for directing guests to your listing

Every stay and Experience on Airbnb is one of a kind. But traditional travel search can make it hard to find them. That’s because when people have to enter a specific location and dates into a search box, they only get results that match what they type in the box.

As part of the Airbnb 2022 Summer Release, we’re introducing an all-new app and website designed around Airbnb Categories. When guests browse Airbnb, they’re presented with over 50 categories that group listings into curated collections based on their style, location, or proximity to a travel activity.

Airbnb’s website and app were redesigned to help listings get discovered by a wider variety of guests earlier in their trip planning. Here are some answers to common questions about how this affects Hosts of Experiences.

What’s changing?

For guests using a web browser, the Experiences and Online Experiences Categories now appear when they click on the search box to select dates or a destination.

Guests using the mobile app can find Experiences by tapping the top search box to select dates or a destination.

How can guests search for Experiences?

When guests are on Airbnb.com, they can click or tap on the search bar to switch their search from Stays to Experiences or Online Experiences.

Guests using the mobile app can tap on the search bar to switch from Stays to Experiences or Online Experiences. Online Experiences are not searchable on the iOS version at this time.

When guests book a stay, they’ll still be shown nearby Experiences in the Trips section of both Airbnb.com and the mobile app that they can browse.

How can you help guests find your Experience?

One way you can help guide guests to your Experience is to use frequently searched terms in your listing. For example, adding relevant search keywords to the title and description of your listing can make it easier for guests searching for those words to find your Experience.

You can also promote your Experience on social media. Here are a few ways you can use social media to spread awareness of your listing:

  • Post publicly and regularly to reach as many people as possible

  • Include a link to your Experience, so guests can book easily

  • Encourage guests to tag you and #airbnbexperiences or #airbnbonlineexperiences—and, when they do, be sure to like, comment on, and share their content
