Before the war, it was the home of wholesalers of sugar and grains, and after the war, it was the home of footwear wholesalers. It is now a quiet shop that handles old tools and old books. We started private lodging in 2020 because we wanted a lot of people to experience the beauty of modern old things. Your room is upstairs, up a slightly steep flight of stairs. The second floor has a slightly low ceiling, which leaves behind the quaint trim of the past. Enjoy the inconvenience of a modern old house I hope you can experience it. Would you like to stay with a distant relative? We can provide breakfast, but we basically ask for dinner outside. Please let me know in advance if you have any requests. 10 minutes walk to Nijo castle. We locate in the middle of Kyoto and love this neighborhood which shows fascinating local side. We can offer 'free bathhouse ticket', Enjoy our bathhouse culture with the locals! Higurashi-sou is a small guest house with 5 guest rooms only. This room is called 'Suisen' with unique Karakami paper doors with hand-drawn swirls and swimming frogs.
