What you'll do

In one afternoon you can enjoy the best of Portugal’s stunning coastline, taste local Portuguese food and wine and go off-road in Sintra’s mysterious forests. Join us to watch the sun set into the sea with sand between your toes, salty hair and wine in one hand.
We’ll pick you up in one of our legendary convertible jeeps and take a brief look at Sintra’s best sights and palaces before hitting our favourite forest tracks. These off-road, unmarked trails pop out at the westernmost point of Europe, Cabo da Roca.
Our secret beach is a short hike away. The dirt trail twists along a steep route but it takes only 30 minutes to get down to the sand. Bring proper shoes for this part! Flip flops/thongs/jandals/foot wedgies won’t make the cut.
Once we reach the soft, golden sand – just relax. We’ll set up a picnic spread of traditional Portuguese “petiscos” (that’s our word for tapas) stacked full of cheese, chouriço (chorizo), bread and other snacks. You can swim in the salty ocean, kick a ball on the sand, or just sit back with a few glasses of local wine. You might have 99 problems, but a beach ain’t one.
Since it is only a half day, you can combine it with one of our morning cultural journeys, which explore UNESCO World Heritage Sintra palaces and more.
*** It's a level 4 Hike, it can be challenging at some points. For safety reasons this experience may be cancelled due to weather
Other things to note
You can combine this sunset hike with one of our morning cultural journeys to Pena Palace and Quinta da Regaleira or our Magical Forest Hike & Picnic in Sintra.
Your driver generally hosts in English, but we also speak Portuguese, Spanish and French.

Olá, we’re FlaminGO Experiences! As little kids exploring their wild streaks we left no stone unturned in our magical hometown Sintra. Our mums complained when we came home dirty, tired and covered in cuts and bruises, but the mountains and coast were – and still are – our playground. Now we know almost every hidden secret and we’ve turned our passion for adventure, storytelling and vintage jeeps into our jobs. Between castles and the coastline we like to go beyond ordinary – driving off-road, eating local sweets, and snapping Polaroids at the beach. If you’re ready for one of the coolest days of your life (2000+ 5-star reviews back that up) – let’s GO! We’ll explore wild coastline, secret forest paths and century-old roads just 30 minutes from downtown Lisbon. We’ll drive through Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage area, before heading off-road through the forest, emerging at the westernmost point on mainland Europe, Cabo da Roca. Near here we’ll hike down to a beautiful secret beach for sunset over the ocean. We’ll finish the day driving along the coast at golden hour, dropping you off in Cascais.

The bad: The booking experience was awful, our tour date was overbooked by management and we were told they were changing our tour type and date. Very unprofessional. They changed the tour to a day when everything in Sintra was closed. So we the tour was very limited. The good: The guide we ended up with was brilliant and gave us a great, authentic tour of Sintra.

I don't even know where to begin with this review. The whole experience was simply magic, from the tasty pastries and tapas to the incredible beach and cliff views (be sure to jump in the ocean if you get the chance!). Our guide, Mario, was very friendly and really went the extra mile with everything he did. This was easily the highlight of our trip to Portugal and will definitely recommend it to all of my friends. Hope to return soon!

Wonderful experience. The sunset hike was magical and the tapas and wine were delicious. And I loved being able to stand up in the jeep to take videos. Highly recommended experience

This tour is a must-do activity. Our driver was a good host with excellent knowledge of his home town Sintra. He brought us to places that will be in our memory forever, including the beach at the end of the tour … a place that can not be described with words

It is really a magical place! Everything was great - I highly recommend the tour if you want to get out of the city and enjoy a beautiful sunset in a great landscape. The climb was totally doable, I recommend to wear solid footwear.

A must have!!!The experience is truly unique, the location magical, the guide is very friendly and gives you a lot of info about Sintra and the jeep ride is absolutely insane!!❤ If you practice sports regularly, the hike won't really be a problem. Just wear safe and comfy shoes. It's so worth it!!
