What you'll do

Join us and our llamas for a 2-mile nature walk and explore the trails on our farm. We'll walk trails along our pastures and into the woods with your own llama companion. You'll learn the history of the camelid family, llama domestication, and how llamas and alpacas are used today.

We'll also have the opportunity to tour the farm facility, meet the rest of the herd, and learn more about how we prepare and use their fiber.

Other things to note:
* We reserve the right to cancel an experience in the event of bad weather - we will walk in light rain, but will cancel in the event of heavy rain;
* We do not schedule these walks in the middle of summer (July and August) as it gets too hot for the animals, but will add days from time to time over the summer as we check the weather forecast for cooler days.

Each child under 10 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and will share a llama on the trails with an adult unless they've had prior experience with handling large livestock.

Please do not ask to bring your pup as saying ‘no’ makes us sad.

For more than 35 years we have been raising, showing, breeding, and training champion llamas in Albemarle county, and were among the first llama breeders in Virginia, winning national-level titles. We regularly host llama shows and fiber festivals both on our farm and around the state.

Your hosts for the treks will be Paige and Steven. They began hosting and offering trekking with llamas in 2017 on their farm, and at local parks and trails.

    This experience is a must! My boyfriend and I were blown away by the hospitality of Paige and Steven as well as the beauty of their farm and animals. Hiking with the llamas (we walked with Tucuman and Racer) and a tour of the farm by far made this the best experience we’ve had on Airbnb. We can’t thank you all enough for sharing it with us!

    It’s so magical. The llamas are amazing animals. My kids loved it, and was good to see them having fun without wifi. I left the farm with a full and warm heart. Steven is so knowledgeable and a great host.

    This was such a fun experience! I did this with a friend on New Years Eve, great way to close out the year and get out to do something different. Steven, our guide, was friendly, answered all the group's questions, and made morning walk relaxing. I would recommend doing this activity...how many times are you going to get a chance to walk a llama?!

    My girlfriend and I had a wonderful experience here! The drive to the farm is beautiful and the farm itself is serene and expansive. Llamas and horses roam the pastures. The llamas are friendly, and the walk with them was so much fun! Each has its own personality and they can be a bit feisty, but it was such a neat experience. Steven was an outstanding host. He was very friendly and had an answer to all of my thousand questions. This was something brand new to us, and we had a tremendous time! Can’t wait to visit again!
